How come they don't play the all star game after 41 games ?

I heard somebody suggest that All Star weekend be moved up three weeks - so it falls in the off week before the Superbowl. Sounds like a good idea to me.

Because they don't want to compete for ratings with the NHL All-Star game and the NFL playoffs/Super Bowl.

I'm perfectly fine where it is now...why does it have to be at the exact midway point anyways.

For playoff teams it's like a mid-way break. I think this break actually helps teams to prep for their playoff surge and make the league more interesting.

It's only late in the season if your team doesn't make the playoffs..

Hockey sucks, no one likes that trash.

Game 41 for most teams would have been around Jan 20-25th..Super Bowl not an issue, either.

I bet the teams prefer it this way, in general. The later into the season you can get a week off to heal up, the better.

edit: if you think about it too, for most of the people participating, this is essentially the midway point, factoring playoffs in.
