So someone thinks he's boring? Who cares? I'm a Spurs fan, it doesn't bother me if someone else finds Manu (or the whole team) boring. I don't happen to agree, but if he thinks Manu's boring - so be it.

I think everyone in this thread has forgotten that the term "boring" is an OPINION. Now, lets go over a very simple definition of the word "opinion";

opinion

noun
1. a personal belief or judgment that is not founded on proof or certainty; "my opinion differs from yours"; "I am not of your persuasion"; "what are your thoughts on Haiti?"
2. a message expressing a belief about something; the expression of a belief that is held with confidence but not substantiated by positive knowledge or proof; "his opinions appeared frequently on the editorial page"

Comprende? Magic32's statement about Manu being boring, is not disputable, by very definition. It may be bias, but it is not wrong.

BTW, I have stated many times before, that I believe the Spurs are a boring team to watch. Not necessarily because the action on the court is not entertaining, but more because there is a "tragic inevitability" that the Spurs will win. That is a lack of surprise (and is "predictable"), which in my opinion, is boring.

Whether one person finds Manu's game boring is unimportant. What I thought was funny was when one poster said it is of the majority of fans' opinions that he is boring.

As an unbiased party, that just seems ridiculous.

yes and no. he stated that its a fact that hes boring. then came back and said its just his opinion. he also stated that its the opinion of many other people (stated several times infact), but he seems to be the only one with said opinion in this thread.

Manu and Parker are both all stars when healthy imo.. they get severely underrated because they play with Duncan
Spragga - The greatest trick the Raptors ever pulled was convincing the world that Defense doesn't exist.

neither Parker nor Manu are UNDERRATED..everybody knows their value to the team, and how they compliment Duncan..

tsherkin's post is the most accurate in this thread..I'm obviously going to assume most of you don't watch a bunch of Spurs games, since most of you aren't fans or find our team "boring"..

Manu Ginobili's game isn't significantly affected by Duncan..the main significance Duncan brings to Ginobili, is that he prevents Manu from double-teams, which is the same as any other 2nd or 3rd stars in the NBA..Ginobili doesn't play off Duncan often..

Parker on the other hand, depends on Duncan a lot more than Manu does, considering his style..Parker's #'s went down when Duncan was out of the lineup, while Ginobili's didn't really change..Pop leaves Manu on with the bench to start the 2nd quarter every game, and we've had success over the years, despite the other team knowing who is going to have the ball in his hands..Ginobili is still an all-star player without Duncan..

but even as a Spurs fan, I don't believe Manu could be a #1 option on a GOOD team..he definitely understands the game and he's a warrior, but he is too inconsistent and erratic to be a #1 option..he's frustrated us Spurs fans a lot with his shot selection..when he's making his shots, he's in the top 3 SG's in the NBA IMO..but when he's cold, it's EXTREMELY ugly with his decision making..his stats are skewed because of how well he plays when he's making his shots(like I said, he's one of the best when he's hot)..

great playmaker, great clutch player, great shooter..his D has regressed, and he has questionable decision making..

Doesn't change the fact that he is incredibly boring, a huge flopper, and is only successful because of his team. Yes, the fact that teams always double-team TD might play a bit of a reason why he has his occasional big games. And perhaps even the fact that he plays under one of the best coaches of all-time. And perhaps even the fact that he plays with a top 10 PG.

Duncan couldn't help your boy Hedo when he played for the Spurs.

Glad Manu is getting the rest.

Yes everone knows their value to the Spurs but a lot of people don't understand and underrate the value they would have on any NBA team.

Yes, Baron Davis. The ultimate team player and a proven winner who's won titles everywhere he's ever played.

Exactly. I really don't think anyone would be talking about Ginobili if he weren't on the Spurs. He managed to land with a team that has a superstar who makes his teammates better, and an incredibly boring team that fits his incredibly boring style of play.

Plus, the ASG is not about defense, so how would he find a way to flop?

This is a terrible post. :banghead:

You're assuming that Ginobili wouldn't be as good if he were on a different team. How do you quantify that statement? It's just your opinion that you've created in your head with no substance.
