Jose Calderon? He's a pretty good Spanish pg who hasn't even started for half a season yet, how exactly is he marketable?

Kobe doesn't get marketed much.

I think he has had one TV commercial since '04.

He has a bunch of Nike commercials coming out, but I doubt anyone will see them on TV.

Dude has a new shoe coming out and I haven't seen one commercial.

CP3, Kidd, and Shaq are other players that come to mind.

Before the whole rape incident.

That tarnished his image.

Kevin Martin and Gerald Wallace are both seriously underrated, but I don't know how marketable they are given the cr*p teams they play on.

the Celtics aren't considered boring, and we all know how much hype they've received..they play a defensive style of basketball..

if it was just style of play, there would be a limited number of teams that are considered exciting by everyone..

Let me tell you this...its all about marketing and making money. Its an entertainment league now and the NBA, the league itself, decides who they want to pimp out and market. They need a new fresh face every year to draw new fans and get a buzz going, and this year its definitely the Celtics and Kevin Garnett. The marketing machine has passed over the Spurs, the Suns, the Mavs in favor of Celtics and Lakers...just like the old days. People love it. The machine also has passed over players in Duncan, Kidd, Nash, and AI in favor of Wade, LeBron, Howard and Paul. Even Kobes kind of slipped behind LeBron and Paul. Wade will be forgotten about because he is not winning. In this years playoffs, Paul will be the golden child, especially if he advances past the 1st round.

Advertising as a league would be difficult. I think that Deron Williams, Josh Smith, Baron Davis, and CP3 all have the highlight reels to make exciting ads. I'd go out and say that CP3 is going to get that when his shoe drops. I don't see it happening for the other 3 for awhile though.

The shoe company's and gatorade need to start advertising more players than just LeBron, Wade, Melo, etc.

the golden child of the playoffs is always one the players who plays best and who takes his game to the next level.

-Lebron last year blew up because of his play and Game 5 in Detroit.

-Wade the year before and the championship run.

Chris Paul has a great chance of being the golden boy this year. KG or Kobe could make a comeback.

Kobe and Tim Duncan, considering they are the two best by far in the game right now, but even a one-way "superstar" like Dirk or Carmelo get more media hype than them.
