you can't move a PRO sports franchise into a city that thrives on college sports. PRO and college attarct different crowds - they are used to certain days for games, affordable prices and more importantly - The LOCAL RIVALRIES.
it takes years, decades to create a rivalry, it can't be manufactured.
Seattle and Portland are geographically close but are they really rivals?
LA and Sacremento are even closer but this wasn't a rivalry until Shaq and Webber made it one.
they don't want the NBA in OK - they want the Sooners and OSU Cowboys and time to hate on Nebraska and aything else TEXAS.
they don't want the NBA in Charlotte - they have Duke/UNC.
Seattle doesn't have a major rival but they do have tradition.
The "Oklahoma" Sonics will fail because they won't have either - rivalry or tradition.
fold up that memphis and minnesota franchises that have no rivalries or tradition and keep seattle where it is.
