While I agree that TNT does a better job on the whole than ABC, they will never take the championship game/round of the NBA, MLB, or NFL to cable...it would alienate a lot of fans.
Remember the uproar over the final game of the regular season where the Patriots played the Giants? Yes, TNT is easier to get than the NFL network, but it would be that kind of reaction all over again, if not worse since its the title round (that game ended up being simulcasted on 2 additional networks)
Last year, I had just moved and didn't have cable during the playoffs. I couldn't watch a game unless it was on the weekend, until the conference finals. That was pretty frustrating. Had I not been able to view ANY of the games...IDK if i'd be here.

I don't get the love fest with TNT here.
Doug Collins and Steve Kerr are the biggest asslickers I have ever seen. They should just cut all this general talk about how "amazingly, miraculously great player x or y" is and concentrate on the game.
They are as cheesy and fake as it gets. But that appears to be the agenda that national TV broadcasters have to be as fake and cheesy as it gets.
And I hate these fake anecdotes that they always have to throw in.
On ESPN or ABC you at least have someone like Walton or Mark Jackson, who has some sort of entertaining value, even if it is their stupidity or weirdness. It is still better than listening to Doug Collins gay ass licking every players balls.
