You are so wrong, you've got it backwards.
Not only is making 2 of 6 from three just as good as going 3 of 6 from two, it's actually better. The two scenarios would be equal if defensive teams always grabbed the defensive board. But in reality, teams grab offensive rebounds about 28% of the time. The team that goes 2 of 6 from three point range actually has an extra opportunity to grab the offensive board.
