West vs. East

Post#1 » by dc » Wed Feb 20, 2008 11:21 pm

Since Jordan retired, the West has always seemed to be a better conference than the East, but here are the things that happened recently that further widened the disparity, leading to this year's results.

-Bulls give Tyson Chandler to the Hornets for basically free.

-Cavs let Carlos Boozer out of his deal and signs with the Jazz.

-Philly trades Allen Iverson traded to the Nugz for Andre Miller and two late picks.

-2005 draft: East has first 2 picks and winds up with Andrew Bogut and Marvin Williams.

West has the next 2 picks and winds up with Deron Williams and Chris Paul.

-2006 draft: East has 4 of the first 6 picks (including the top 3) in the draft and winds up with Barganani, Ty Thomas, Adam Morrison and Shelden Williams.

West winds up with Lamarcus Aldridge, Brandon Roy and Rudy Gay.

Those events really changed the future of the Hornets, Blazers and Jazz.

in 2005 baron davis to the warriors for nothing
tmac for mobley and francis in 2004, both are finished now.
some east idiot teams don't get amare in 2002, instead they get bull.

but the one about deron and paul is the most significant, both those teams are what they are thanks to those 2 young guys who will be the best 2 pg's in the future, actually they already are top4.

The Baron Davis trade didn't make the west better than the east because he was traded within the conference (Hornets were in New Orleans by then). I suppose you can say the Hornets moving from the eastern coference to the western conference is what really made the difference.

But think about Lebron having Boozer right now (which really should be the case). Instead Boozer is with the Jazz making them an elite team and life miserable for opposing frontlines.

How about Roy with the Bobcats instead of Morrison? Charlotte and Portland would probably have swapped records right now.

And of course the 2 PGs going West intead of East really basically made thsoe two franchises. You could basically swap the fortunes of the Hawks and Hornets if Atlanta had taken Paul.

Also can't forget the fact that during the East's strong days the Knicks were contenders and now they are the embarrassment of the NBA

Good thing the East has LeBron, Wade, Dwight, and Bosh.
