I think the history is the sheer amount of trades near the deadline this year. Gasol, Marion, Shaq, Kidd, Wells, Thomas... everybody and their mama is willing to potentially screw their chemistry to get a title shot.

Teh first round in the West will be EPIC, every team 1-8 has a legit shot at winning it, no matter who they play.

The last time I watched a whole NBA finals series was ten years ago.

When the Bulls were in it.

I can legitimately say I might watch even though my Bulls won't be in it.

Thats pretty huge. Its really hard to pull in big ratings without big markets because the biggest viewers are going to be the fans of the actual teams. Pulling in all the fans could be huge, and I think it might happen.

Think of where the League was after SA stomped CLE in the Finals, to the level of excitement there is tonight.

Stern must be drooling all over himself and anyone else in his Zip Code.

i think we're entering a renaissance period the league has more talent (and alot of them are young) then they've had probably since the 80's i cant tell you how excited i am for the league and it looks like plenty of things are going right for them too.

Although the bottom east is mediocre, its nice to see fresh teams like the hawks n bobcats getting a shot at postseason play.

C'mon Cavs wrote:Or, in the case of the Cavs...the LeBron could beat the Celtics in 6 games.

I need to take down names before these playoffs begin, because I am telling you...if the Cavs are 100% healthy going into these playoffs, they are going to be a TOUGH out.

Certainly Detroit or Boston can beat, as could the opponent they will face in the Finals should they make it there again...but when everybody is healthy, this team is the ultimate wild card because of LeBron.

The Cavs are going to give Boston and/or Detroit all they can handle and more, and I wouldnt be the least bit surprised to see them back in the Finals.

Cavs have no shot at beating a healthy Boston team in a 7 game series. Keep smoking that pipe.

We aren't talking about a injury plauged Washington team, or a horribly balanced New Jersey team with no front line or a Piston team with Webber anchoring the middle.

LeBron was swept out of the finals for reason - that team had no business there in the first place. Expect the same result when the Cavs meet their end at the hands of KG. Otherwise, you're just setting yourself up for dissapointment.

I think the Cavs have a much more balanced team after the trade than before. Lebron is going to be a monster in the playoffs this year. I would not underestimate the Cavs.

I am really pumped to see the West this year in the playoffs it is going to be insane. It could get even better with the arrival of Oden next year which would push Portland up into a playoff seeding.

The team from the West that makes the Finals is an achievement in itself. I could see a team emerging from the West so mentally and physically drained that they flame out in the finals.
