It's a good move. It makes them deeper and allows them to have a consistent veteran when the young guys aren't doing good, especially in the playoffs. Now Celtics just need Cassell and they'll be set up pretty good for a ring. The worst thing that can happen is he doesn't gel however that was also an initial fear of the Celtics coming into the season and they quickly laid it rest.
My Starting 5:
PG: Allen Iverson
SG: Paul Pierce
SF: Kevin Durant
PF: Kevin Garnett
C: Patrick Ewing

Maybe he will be inconsistent on the offensive end....but the Cs aren't bringing him in to score.....the Cs are bringing him in to rebound and defend the Big Man in the Low-Post when Perkin sits.
Unless he is inconsistent in doing what he does best ( rebound and provide some low-post defense of Big Men ), then he should be able to be the roleplayer that he was brought in to be for 10-15 minutes a game.

Can he finish easy looks? That is almost the only skill a big on the Celtics needs in order to be consistent on the offensive end. I think his D won't have that many nights off either.thEthIEf wrote:well, i dont know how consistent he is...will be interesting...

he has one of the most dependable mid range shots in the league for a big man and he is known for his post defense...this like the Kurt Thomas trade is an undervalued pickup because of the magnitude of the other deals. this is exceptional for Boston. This is and a dependable back up PG is what they have been lacking and they look like they are going to fill that soon too. NBA finals here they come.
