Define "soft"

Post#1 » by Yankee » Sat Mar 1, 2008 3:57 am

Evidently Yao homers are saying how he is not soft because he played with an "injury" for months.

When you're the tallest man in the NBA and you get blocked repulsively by the shortest player in the NBA..that's soft.

When you are posterized every game...that's soft.

When you do lay ups standing under the basket( alone)..that's soft.

When 90% of your shots are fadeaways and you land on your behind....that's soft

when you're 320 lbs and can't back down joakim noah...That's REALLY SOFT

he might have some heart by playing through his injuries..but lets not mistaken it with "soft"

BTW the rockets are playing much better without him...his softness is slowing down their offense.

When you make a thread on the GB bashing a player...that's a hater.

I made that comment on the Magic board not the GB. I am happy for the pub though hope you keep it in there for a while.

Bashing? I think I have legitimate points.

when you're only comeback is calling someone a hater...that's a homer

None of those point are legitimate. All of em are opinion. The main issue I see and why I think this is nothing but a bashfest by you...how do you know we are playing better without Yao? We beat Washington who couldn't beat LeBron+D-Leaguers and we beat Memphis who were so bad they gave away Pau for D-Leaguers. Thats a clear reach on your part. We haven't played anyone since Yao went down. I am a Rocket fan I don't think we are playing that well at all without Yao. The teams we have played since he went down are just that bad.

a 7-6 320 lbs veteran who can't back up a 6'11 230 lbs rookie not a legitimate point for softness?

getting blocked by the shortest player was funny, you're reading too much into it, one play doesn't make someone soft.

Making a lay up is just fundamental basketball, just because he doesn't dunk and yell all the time doesn't make him soft. it makes him different.

being posterized is just a consequence of yao always trying to stop the man from scoring...nothing soft about it, i'd rather have that then prince for example running away from the basket in ECF 2007 after lebron jumped for a dunk

how can it be soft to make a lay up if you're alone? what are you? 13? lay up as said is just as effective as a dunk for a him, plus it reduces the possibility of a freak injury happened...do you think tony allen is "hard" after the moron dunked and blew out his knee (which happened after the whistle was blown)

fadeaway's are soft because he lands on his butt? the mofo is 7'6'' it's not as easy as MJ doing it or Kobe, tell me another superstar Center who works on a fadeaway? yeah, hard work makes him soft, you're right.

i guess i agree not backing down noah while you're bigger is kinda weak, but if it leads to points it don't matter.

Now here's what i think it's soft

Being all bark no bite

Demanding to be counted as a couple inches shorter in order to not play the center position and having to take on players like "soft" yao.

I guess putting up 20-10-2 while playing through an injury is soft..

When you're the tallest man in the NBA and you get blocked repulsively by the shortest player in the NBA..that's where amazing happens

When you are posterized every game...that's commitment to defending the rim

When you do lay ups standing under the basket( alone)..that's playing smart, why waste more energy dunking the ball?

When 90% of your shots are fadeaways and still clip at above 50%... thats accuracy and precision

when you're 310 lbs and injured and still trying to back down joakim noah at 235 who is only 30 lbs lighter than dwight howard... thats dedication to your team, team mates, and the game of basketball

fixed it for ya

The next time you decide to create a thread, respect the posters of said team and said player. In addition, don't start a thread to bash a player, as it seems you are doing here. -- This is how we get into pissing matches on these boards.....

PM if you have any concerns, and I'll gladly think about reopening this, or change your OP, but I'm locking it for now.
