The artist used west as an image for the logo, not vice-versa. The logo isnt an award. Westwasntpickedbecause he was great or white. It just happened to fit the artists image for how the logo should look.

The NBA logo is recognized worldwide, and it still looks good. They would be fools to change it.

Anyone who has been an NBA fan since at least the early 90s would not want the logo to change, so no for me. I never got to watch Jerry West play, but I grew up watching that logo introduced along with the classic NBA theme song...ahh the memories. Never change it.
