i've always thought that people just out-think themselves when evaluating this guy.

he is a fantastic passer and rebounder and he can run the break. but his shooting is HORRIBLE. if you tally it all up i never thought the sum of these parts made him as good as everyone thought he was. at what point does the guy's lack of shooting start to drag down his overall value?

one of the mavs' many problems is that their point guard is a great rebounder and their 7 footer is a great 3 point shooter.

huh?

LOL@ "useless triple doubles" You guys are underestimating the importance of Kidd's defensive rebounding. Once Kidd grab the rebound it's an automatic fast break. So those triple double's weren't useless at all.

I wish Cavs could've acquired him. Just imagine whole game would be about this ::Rebound(Kidd)-fast break-dunk(LeBron)

That's why LeBron said bringing Kidd would guarantee the championship.

Kidd has always been horrible on offense. He'll miss more shots open than with a hand on his face. Still, hes one of the most talented point guard of our time. I still rank him in the top 10 simply because he is a gifted passer and defender.

Kidd was amazing back in 2002-04. He personally was responsible for getting the nets to the finals back then. Now he is still savvy but in terms of what Dallas gave to get him he is overrated. But all in all the guy is still a top ten point guard albeit right on the cusp now. For a point in time he was a top 5 player in the league.

Probably not the most important stat for a point guard, but you're underestimating it in a holistic view point. He's great at getting defensive rebounds, which triggers a fast break.

His offensive rebounds also gives Dallas additional chances to score. Most of all, I think his great rebounding skills is a testament of how good his court vision is.

So people are saying Jason Kidd horrible shooting is hurting the mavs?

He's shooting 61% from three and 47% overall in the nine games he's played.

Instead of blaming kidd why not blame josh Howard who's been playing like garbage since the trade, shooting the ball at roughly 38% while averaging 16 shots a game. Or Avery Johnson taking kidd out in crunch time...

J Kidd has done everything he was brought in to do.

He's avg 11,6,10 and 3 stls along with the great shooting %...
