that's my whole point, there's no real point to consider traveling any more special than other type of turnovers. granted what you said about turnovers are true, a defense can never force a TO unless the offensive player put themselves in that situation. good players don't put themselves in position where they allow the defense to make a play. singling out traveling is just for the benefit of ESPN and message board to scrutinize over.

Anyways, it's the law of diminishing returns. Some turnovers are more easily avoidable than others. Travelling is almost always the fault of the player, rather than simply "forced by good defense", so it is in fact one of the easiest things to "fix".
If you see your team's PG make a turnover off of a desperation inside-outside pass with 3 on the clock, it's not as bad as watching someone up-fake and travel at the top of the arc with 18 on the clock. One of these two scenarios is easily worked on in practice, one isn't.
