The whole thread is Sh*t out of everyones mouth then. But as an observer and by judging by past actions its clear Kobe is more concerned about his own legacy than the team winning. Kobe apologist have a million lawyer like replies to Kobe's past actions, but turn it around why do people dislike Kobe, but like Shaq like Lebron? They liked Magic and Larry, MJ, why does Kobe stand out amongst these guys?

The answer is that his actions and behaviors lead everyone to conclude that he is about himself first, and that he acts like a spoiled brat when things don't go his way.

I don't know man, if you read the "Jordan Rules" thread I posted, it would show how dumb your post is!

Jordan was very similiar, but Jordan had the character to at least not publicly bash teamates right before a season started, management during the offseason and didn't mouth off at the mall on some dude's cell phone. My post isn't stupid fans did like all those guys but for Kobe it is definately a mixed bag. Jordan said all that stuff in a book years later. Kobe does this weeks before he is going to see this guy. Michael never threw temper tantrums.

The fog of time and greatness tend to dull the memories of MJ. Certainly, he was very much hated by opposing fans and media members all across the country. But as was pointed out, not only was mass media the way we now know it not available, but MJ et. al was very good at only letting certain media get close enough to even get a glimpse of what non-PR MJ was like.

David Stern knew, though. It's funny, Bill Simmons writes about it all the time in his articles.

also not true...

Kobe is the best player...best...B E S T....and some people will always hate the top dog...it's in certain peoples nature...nothing new...it goes back to ancient rome and Odes and before that if you believe in the times of Christ...

What do you mean best? You mean most skilled? You mean hes the guy you pick to start a team to win a title?

I still consider Duncan the best, and he has been the last 5 plus years, everyone has considered Kobe the best.

If you mean, best one on one player, maybe. Although, I think at this point, LBJ is probably taking that title, just with his physical gifts.

In terms of team game, I still say Duncan.

I have always been confused by he is "the best". What does that mean? If he is the guy, you are wanting to start a franchise with, frankly you are crazy to take him over Duncan imo.

LBJ in terms of one on one play is just as good as him. Kobe is hated because he is a prick, he has always been pushed on everyone by the media. I think, what he does on the court has little to do, with the amount of hate he recieves.

I could understand if he was winning titles, owning people in a Jordan"eske" type of way. But hes not. He has been no different than the Tmac, PP, and the other elite swingmen post Shaq. He has a better rep(even if stats say different, particularly the clutchness), he led the league in scoring once or twice. Was named to some first all D teams the last few years he didnt deserve.

But as "the guy" he has taken his team as far as Tmac has. That is the first round. He is a great player, an overrated one imo. But, I think it has little do with what he has done on the court. I mean Shaq, was never hated like him, Jordan wasn't either. Kobe might be the most hated basketball player ever, and it has little to do with him "being the best player", or "owning someone else's team" owning them to what, btw? The first round? Please. It has everything to do with this guy being a Barry Bonds type prick off the court. Being fake, a baby, selfish spoiled brat etc. Even when Kobe was a rookie riding the bench, I couldnt stand him. Something about that guy has always rubbed me the wrong way.

In a way, only Barry Bonds(although, I met him, and he was very nice to me, alittle weird though, here in the Sand bar in scottsdale. But he was extremeley rude to anyone not in our particular crew, which tells me he is pruposoly a prick) can. I view Bonds, Kobe, Michael Irvin, the list goes on, all the same just something about them that just is fake, and shady.

I have no problem with other elite players, I loved Jordan, Bird, Magic. I loved Elway, Montana, Brady. I love/loved Ripkin, Jeter, Pedro, Webb, Griffey .

I think, atleast for me, it has little to do with success on the court/field, and alot to do with how they handle themselves in a public setting, how they handle themselves on the field/court etc..
