I don't think that the way the voters decide these things is THAT nebulous.
1. Team Record x 2. Basic Stats x 3. Who they like/Who they don't like
I would prefer this decision tree:
1. Team Record x 2. Individual Offense x 3. Individual Defense
Offense and Defense would include considerations for clutch play, game management, saavy, ball denial defense, off-ball offense, etc etc etc.
Think about a guy like John Stockton. Not only was he a great, all-around PG, he did everything from a macrolevel (running an entire offense) to the microlevel (like setting FANTASTIC, rib-hurting picks).
