I think the NBA definitely did overlook things here, to an extent. And with this incident being anything at all more than something ordinary, involving Bowen, and from past complaints, actions, they took the oppurtunity to suspend Bruce. Feeling they had to do something.

Before, I thought there was intent from Bowen on the last leg hit, but now I don't think so.

In real time with the contact from Bowen, it's understandable why it's bad because of how it looks, and is how things actually happened. But there's no difference of anything on Paul's hit to Bowen's crotch, it's just difficult to pick up in the real motion of the situation becuase of the commotion going on.

Definitely changes my view on this, but I still can understand why Bowen was suspended.

Jason Terry got suspended for punching Michael Finley's crotch in G5 of the 06 playoffs. Which also was in a tussle for a loose ball.

LMAO, there was absolutely ZERO intention from paul to connect with bowen, he had the ball in his hand till the last second

and due to Paul having ZERO track record for this sort of thing, he gets the benefit of the doubt

bowen on the other hand needs to go back to the cave from whence he came and learn to play fair or go home

LOL at people blaming Paul for this.

After bruce just kept hovering and trying to get some contact with a floored Paul, he pushes off with the ball, and now it's his fault?

Bruce Bowen is a great person, I saw a few documentaries on him, but he's a dirty player, whom I would love to have on my squad.

and before anyone gets into with me, dont bother. bowen is dirty as sin, and everyone knows it (including his teammates, they all joke about it). and dont blame paul for anything that happened. and i dont care about the bowen suspension, because is was more of the culmination of events rather than this particular incident, which i dont really mind.

just had to put it out there.

I wish I could find the near-side baseline angle that has been shown on ESPN. That is by far the best angle. Paul did not punch Bowen, he was reaching for the ball. It's still hard to tell whether Bowen's knee actually made contact with Paul's head but there was definitely something to Bowen thinking for a split-second and then you see his knee headed towards Paul's head. So for anyone to blame Paul for this is completely ridiculous.

My question is, where the hell has this been before? Numerous players have complained about Bowen. He has done far worse things than this (the Amare undercutting thing last year was pretty bad, the Vince Carter thing a few years back was awful). Stern/Jackson and their inconsistency in dealing with this stuff is beyond ridiculous. I think suspending players for games is completely stupid seeing how fans pay a lot of money to see guys like Dirk and Kobe play. I think suspending them for games against a different team than they committed the act against is even dumber. But if you're going to do it then do it to everyone. I love the guy, but I've seen Steve Nash purposely kick Yao this year and nothing came of it. I fail to see how flailing an arm out at a guy or committing a hard foul is far worse than kicking someone in the back or trying to break their ankle on the way down from a jumpshot. Maybe it's just me. It's getting to the point where the league is just sending messages whenever they feel like it instead of reviewing the actual plays.

I don't care, though, because that's my updated thoughts on all this based on what I saw in that video, and knowing the past with Bowen's incidents, following with this suspension now.

I really don't think Bowen would of been suspended, if there was a decreased or no past of questionable and iffy actions.

Really? The NBA are just now going to suspend him a game? A guy who has been allowed to get away with murder for the better part of the last decade? A guy who has the longest active streak in the league despite having delivered more cheap shots than any other players? And only now, they've suddenly decided to suspend him for one whole game? Really? LOL.

NBA players and most of their fans are **** pussies..it's a physical game, deal with it..

I love having Bruce on my team and HE IS a dirty player, but that's just the way some guys play..I don't mind the suspension, because I take the good with the bad..that's what you get with a great physical defender..he hasn't legitimately injured anybody neither, so he isn't nearly as bad as most of you say..

Didn't he injure Crawford last year? Maybe I'm thinking of the wrong guy, but he injured a Knick.

I would rather watch a clean game then guys trying to undercut each other for 48 minutes. Guess I'm soft and a pussy. Guys can get physical and shove and grab and push the rules to the limit and that's fine (that's more of an issue with officiating than anything) but dirty play isn't basketball. If you enjoyed watching the guys in the 80s and 90s that were more concerned with cheap shots then playing the game, you're in the minority.

Do you have a son or daughter that plays basketball? If so, I hope I'm there to see your reaction when one of them gets a karate kick to the head during a game, Mr. "My Generation Used to Walk to School Up-hill Both Ways in a Tornado".

Chris Paul has actually been quite feisty lately, he's seems to have developed a bit of an attitude, a lot more interaction with the crowd and he is talking to the Refs a lot.

i think both chris pauls hand check to the balls and bowens knee to the fface were clear accidents.

but ithink the funniest part of the that slow motion video is bowen not connecting with the last kick and chris paul flying back and then bowen looking innocent.
