Barbosa is getting paid basically the MLE and there is no way ellis signs that type of deal. Ellis will be a FA unlike Barbosa who wasn't when he signed his deal and Barbosa really broke out after signing his contract.

Monta might be my favorite player in the NBA to watch. I'd like to see a little more PG play for a guy with his size, but I still think he is worth more than Calderon.

I don't think 10 million would be too much.

Hmm, Ellis leaving would be Gilbert all over again for Golden State. I think anything over 10 million would be too much for him as of now. He still could become a great player though... the last time I checked, the Warriors basically have 3 players on their team averaging at least around 20ppg. Baron Davis is averaging 22 ppg, Stephen Jackson 21ppg and Monta at 19.6.

Monta is a 20ppg player along with 2 other 20ppg guards, imagine how many more points he would put up if he didn't have teammates that needed the ball in their hands so much to score. I notice him doing so at a young age, he has the potential to become a scoring threat in the league, especially at the rate of how much he keeps improving. He's developing into a mix of Tony Parker and Rip Hamilton, and if he can develop a three pointer then he'll be scary on the floor. If I recall correctly, Ellis scored 36 points without even attempting a single FT and 3pointer.

The kid even scored 26ppg on 60% shooting for the WHOLE month of February.

CLE should offer him 13 million a year. They have that in expirings in just Wally Z.

If not they'll have a 7 million expiring in Snow that they can throw towards Calderon.

They should offer Monta's agent a 13 mil a year contract. Monta may not be a "star" but he'll do fine next to the greatest player in the NBA. Averaging something like 20 ppg and 53% fg.. oh wait he's already doing that :-?

No but seriously, you're not going to find many players at 22 with Ellis's credentials and have a shot to get him. Players can force sign and trades and CLE after letting loosing god's gift to LeBron in Gooden shouldn't let Ellis get away.

I just hope no other team offers him the max, so the warriors have to match...
we don't want to be stuck near the lux tax line
we wont be able to sign free agents....if baron opt's out that'll be bad, and we have to re sign andris... barnes .. buike... even maybe pietrus.

^Barnes, Pietrus and Buike shouldn't he high on our priority list.

Monta
Baron
Biedrins

We can fill out the roster with other swings available. Marco needs some burn too and I expect him to get some minutes next year, plus we have our first rounder as well.

Umm - just because Cleveland has expiring contracts has no effect on their ability to sign FA's. The most Cleveland could offer Monta is the MLE.

Cleveland's EC's don't even really help much in a sign and trade deal, because BYC issues would kill any deal. Not to mention the issue that GS or Toronto would want a lot more than just EC's in a S&T deal for Monta or Jose.

knicks could offer 12millions and then there would be a sign and trade...

monta would then fall off the face of the earth, like every other nyk star before him

No, without room under the cap to make an offer, the Knicks would be limited to a MLE offer.
