Doc Rivers?

He sucked last year and all of the Celtics fans were calling for his firing, they do have the best record in the league right now yes, but do you think that has to do with the fact that they have Ray Allen (perrenial All Star) Kevin Garnett (perrenial All-Star/MVP candidate), and Paul Pierce (Perrenial all star) or do you really think its because of the phenominal coaching Rivers has done. From waht Ive gathered from reports its KG that really got these guys clicking to start off the season with his unselfishness and desire to make it work. Im not sure Rivers should be a candidate. Its funny because when you look at it, the team thats hot is the team that all of you guys like, Hornets were on top and Paul was MVP and Scott was COY then it was the Blazers with Roy being a top 10 player and McMillan beign COY, not the Rockets have won 22 in a row and McGrady is back to being a star and Adelman is the COY, the awards are now simply a joke. Its all about politics and who knows who and who can get whos vote, the league has to switch the voting from the media to the coaches soon, it wont happen because any chance Stern gets to involve the media he takes it (whos blaming him?) but it really throw the credibility and importance of these awards out the window for me.

He's also had some ridiculously talented teams like the Blazers in the early 90's, and the Kings that couldn't ever get anywhere in the playoffs. He's been known as a playoff choker for a coach.

But I think since it's a regular season award he should definitely get it.

He was a Vlade Divac defensive rebound tip to Robert Horry for the buzzer beating 3 away from going to the finals, where Sacto probably would've owned Iverson's 76ers.

Only one man has gotten inbetween Adelman and a title: Phil Jackson. First with MJ + Pippen, then later with Shaq + Kobe. Adleman's been denied a ring because of two of the greatest dynasties ever. Not counting this year, Adelman's teams have made the playoffs 14 out of 16 years (the only 2 times he missed the postseason was with GSW). I wouldn't quite call that playoff choking.

Back on topic, I think another poster nailed it by saying that the win streak deserves some kind of recognition. Since the Rockets probably won't do too well in the playoffs, and Mac won't get MVP, it makes sense for Adelman to get COY.

He also had to face 2 of the best teams in history though , Kobe and Shaq Lakers and Jordan.

How do you get to the championship 2 out of 3 years and be a playoff choker? And then take the dynasty Lakers to game and only lose because the refs cheated you out of the game. Playoff chokers are 1st round exits or even 2nd round exits, not going deep and then losing.....

Byron Scott is very underrated as a coach. He was thrown under a bus with Kidd and his ego in NJ but the man can flat out coach.

Honestly i dont really think its Byron Scott thats behind the Hornets great play... its the MVP Chris Paul... if Lebron wins MVP i'll be pissed... and I'm a Rockets Fan...

MVP - Chris Paul
COY - Rick Adelman

I don't think he gets it. He peaked too soon, and unless he gets the #1 or #2 seed in the West (and I don't think that's going to happen), some team that makes a great run and distinguishes itself from the pack in the last month will get the COY.

Byron Scott can't control his players (Kidd and Baron), and hasn't done well in the playoffs (relatively). Adelman's a lock for the award.

They won't finish on a hot note. They won't even get a home playoff series in the first round. I think they are looking at 5th or 6th seed in the West.

How about I just sleep for a month and come back and tell you to lick me when the Rockets are going on the road to play the Utah Jazz in the first round?

Adelman should be the the front runner because he has coached these roockies, NBDL players, and pine scrubbers to this long streak. I mean who else besides Tmac is good?

His ability to show his player's true potential really should earn him the award.

IMO Doc Rivers is a close second because heck he could sleep while his team plays and still have the same record. He has 3 great players who do the coaching for him on the court.

LOL, that makes sense to me. I don't have 5000 posts on RealArithmetic.com but I still know that 2+2=4. I'll send you a PM on April 16th and we can talk about who the ballboy is.
