There's no way to change the rules, a banch player is someone who doesn't start, otherwhise it becomes to subjective.

Popovich has a Fiba-style subs patterns, that allows him to have at least 2 of his top 3 players on the court for most of the game, giving the Spurs an advantage over 48 minutes. That's possible because Manu accepts what other players would consider lack of respect...

Have you ever seen a three times NBA champion, olympics gold medalist, euroleague champion, italian league MVP, almost finals MVP, come from the bench? So why Manu Ginobili, why should I come from the bench?
