Why not?

Ever been to Buffalo? Two teams have problems surviving in Buffalo, it's an over extended sports market right now with just two teams.

this is what needs to happen:

Golden State Warriors become Oakland Warriors

LA Clippers become the San Diego Clippers

then, New Orleans trades the "Hornets" to Utah for the "Jazz"

now, we have the New Orleans Jazz and the Utah Hornets

Sonics stay in Seattle.

Seattle ...leave them the sonics, Vancouver move the Hawks here...ATL doesnt deserve a franchise, one of the worst sports markets ever...I can remember watching MLB playoff games with 5-10000 empty seats, Kansas City move New Orleans here they cant support a team, NY needs another team ...Nets, welcome to Brooklyn, move the clippers to san diego, no need for expansion, just switch markets

I don't see the NBA going back to Vancouver any time soon. If Seattle does loose the Sonics, I'm guessing they will get an expansion team or have a team move there in the future.

In that case the Lakers and TWolves need to change names as well.

Unless you're calling that tar pit out there a lake.

Locals, as I am, in Vegas would absolutely go to games; this is a basketball town (UNLV). The population continues to grow rapidly, and the annual tourist level is over 40 million. Locals would buy a vast majority of the tickets, the casinos would eat them up to give to employees or use as comps, and NBA tickets would then become a common component of travel packages during the season. Jerry Colangelo has said that LV is already a more desirable market than some current NBA cities. I honestly don't see a scenario where a team wouldn't be wildly successful here.

I can see how OKC would be successful. They seem to enjoy sports there and the loyalty would probably be pretty high. I think the potential of the area is limited, though. It's also a hell of lot less sexy than Las Vegas.

Vancouver deserves an NBA franchise, they got royally screwed with the Grizz. I would love one in Vegas, but Vegas only supports winners. Like with the UNLV basketball team, the place sells out when we are in the top 3 in the mountain west, and tournament bound. But, when we are not tourny bound, the place is lucky to be half full.

An NBA franchise can do great in Vegas, IF they put a good product on the court, otherwise, it will not be successful.

I'd say Pittsburgh needs one. Just look at the love/support the Steelers get.

dont think that's a really good basketball market

Vegas will never have a franchise because of gambling. It'be hard to imagine NBA players behaving/living in Vegas. haha. Let's put Indiana Pacers and call them Las Vegas Pacers.

I'd love to see one in San Diego or in St. Louis.

Out of all the cities people have come up with I think Las Vegas is the best idea.

I'd love to see a team in Mexico City. Largest Metropolitan area in the Western Hemisphere (even bigger than NY). They drew 103,000 fans to a 49ers-Cardinals game and nobody down there even understands the sport.

The instant influx of Hispanic fans would be a great deal larger than the fan base from anywhere else. They also better get down there before the NFL and MLS wise up.

Lots of NBA players live in Vegas. Gary Payton is most notable.
