There has been talk recently about the possibility of expansion in the league to 32 total teams. What are some suggestions of cities that are deserving of a new franchise?

I didn't hear anything about them adding two more teams... Where did you hear this?

If there was absolutely no way to avoid expansion (I still say we should contract a couple). Then Seattle, provided they can't find a way to keep the Sonics.

The only expansion I've heard is the long-term plan to expand to Europe.

Somewhere in the midwest first of all (Omaha, Kansas City, or St Louis). I'd say either Omaha or KC has priority because of state of the art arenas (Qwest Center and Sprint Center, respectively)



Then, I'm not sure. Pittsburgh?

Vegas, KC or Europe. I think there is enough talent for more teams, the issue I have is stretching the schedule too thin. There would be less games against each team per year. Right now they play 4 in conference, except one team is 3 and the opposite conference is 2.

You have to look at both TV market and market growth. The mid-west isn't growing like the west and south.

Pretty much in that order. They really should relocate some franchises first though, before expanding.

I read somewhere of like adding a new Seattle Sonics team (after the other team moved to OKC) and maybe like a Vegas team. The league would then move 2 teams to the East (Memphis & Minnesota would be ideal candidates).

32 is a good number... after that though it's time to go to Europe.

I don't think the European *expansion* would be the same league.
The Phoenix Suns aren't going to play the London Knights, for example. It'd likely be an 8-team league of its own, and not a 7th division of the National Basketball Association.
