Gay should end up 2nd in the MIP voting. He has the most significant positive numbers of any 2nd year player and highest PPG boost of any player this season (2nd LaMarcus Aldridge). He has a lot of potential and that is why Memphis probably traded Gasol. He is the new face of their franchise.

I'm not sleeping on him. He's great player. I just think no one talks about him because his team is horrible and in a small market. He's a good player though.

I think everyone knew that he had a significant high ceiling( many said the highest in his draft) and I hope that he can achieve some level of stardom in Memphis. They really need someone to be a number 1 guy now that Gasol is out of town.

Ah, another player who the Raps missed out on. I'm starting to really hate Bargnani. Gay just needs a secondary player to help him and he'll be able to lead his team.

Only 4 teams had two players score more than 20 PPG this season (Golden State had 3), and a lot of teams didn't have anyone reach that mark. So I find it hard to believe Gay will score that much for many years and not be a first option type, whatever that means.

Who is the number one option on San Antonio? Most people would conclude it is Duncan, right? Well Manu averages more points per game then Duncan.

When I talk about number one option, I mean if you need a guaranteed bucket down the stretch, this is the guy you would undoubtedly go to. I don't view Gay as that type of guy.

Gay just needs a primary player to help him and the player will be able to lead Gay.

Gay has been overlooked this season for sure and he is one of the most improved players this season (Hedo would be my number 1 and Gay 2) but since he plays on the Grizzlies, who were only in the news when they traded Pau for peanuts, there isnt going to be any reckognition for a player that plays in Memphis unless they are winning. Ive watched Gay id say just 5 times this season and it seemed like when Gasol was on the court and he was the second scorer he was a better defender. Granted I saw him very little this season (id say 2 games with Gasol and 3 without) but thats just what I saw. I still think Durant will be the better/more complete player but they are pretty comparable.

He is selfish as hell, he has to know how and when to pass, because he is real good, no doubt, but sometimes he feels he has Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant inside of him and turns into an absolutely ballhog. If he improves it, he'll be an AllStar for years to come.

Rudy Gay is also probably tops in the league at letting their man dunk and hit threes.
