How? Boston is the only 60 win team in the league. They would've easily gotten 70 if they had beat some lesser teams. Boston swept SA in the regular season. They came back down from 20 against a healthy SA team in San Antonio. They beat the Spurs without KG. Boston has dominated the league all season long. Right now Boston is in a league of its own. Whats even scarier is that Boston still hasn't played its best ball. Also I highly doubt TD gives a **** about DPOY. The only thing he cares about is to get his hand full of rings. The Spurs are my pick to win the West. However if Boston doesn't win this season then it will be looked upon as the greatest disappointment in the franchises history because Boston looks like the one true poised to win the ring. Also I'm not really a bandwagon fan. I'm a KG fan. If Boston had only won a single game I would still watch. I still do watch the T-Wolves and root for them but theres not much to get excited about as of right now.

60 wins doesn't win a championship, playoff basketball is a whole different beast. The three Celtic stars havent been able to figure out how to win in the playoffs. Tim probably doesn't care but to think he has never won it is crazy.

They did get the #1 spot right, though. Garnett was easily the best defender in the NBA this year. Congrats to The Big Ticket.

QFT, Congrats to KG....

Must be true, if it's a rumor you read on Hoopshype.

As everyone else said, it's ridiculous that Duncan hasn't won previously, but Garnett was definitely deserving this year.

They've all been to the conference finals. They've produced when given sufficient talent. I swear what is with people thinking one player can just put a team on his back and win. I agree it's crazy TD has never won one. However it's also crazy that KG hasn't one until now.

Kia is also a korean brand. But we can't expect Bristol fans to know much about geography outside of New England and Ireland.

Pfft! I'm from the UK and I have amazing geography skills :P

Alot of teams can say that. Hell, if the Bulls in 96 had beat 'some lesser teams' they would've won like 80. The point is how many you end up with, period.

Another thing that bothers me: 16 voters didn't even have Garnett on their ballot, at all. Those people and the Rip Hamilton second place voter should have their voting privileges revoked.

KG won it, awesome! He deserves it, definitely. Now he has something Duncan may never have, lol, though Duncan's deserved it at least a half-dozen times recently. I hope he wins it next year just to spite the rest of the league.

Ok but the point I'm trying to make is that Boston is not a team that you see on the schedule and say "Win". I'm in my opinion Boston should've gone 82-0 but you obviously can't win EVERY game there are obviously some slip ups.

you know, im estatic that kg won because he actually derserves it. his numbers not not DPOY-esqe from previous years. but can anyone challenge this? hes anchored the best defense in the nba this past season and this award did justice. so my question is, where is bowens award? where is duncans award?

They went form a defensive rating of 107.9(21st) to 111.2(27th). Also Boston went from a defensive rating of 106.9(16th) to 98.9(1st). Nice try but no you simply can NOT hate on KG's D.

Well deserved!

KG's awesome, and obviously has been the main reason why the Celtics are what they are defensively, and have been the team that they've been. Better than anybody thought... I thought they'd be solid and consistent defensively, but not "great".

Duncan has to get one soon, even though ultimately it won't truly matter, it'd really be nice and fitting for Tim Duncan to win the DPOY award. To add to his legacy.

I really thought he should of won it over Camby last year.

Duncan should have won it in 03-04, last year and in one or two of Ben Wallace's DPOY seasons. He should have three or four DPOYs at this point, especially given all he's achieved as a defender.
