using the same argument you did, i think that nash's performance when stoudemire was injured for 05-06 was overrated. how much better would the suns have been when they already won 54 games? if stoudemire had been on the toronto raptors this season, he could have had a 15 win effect. so instead of going 41-41, the raptors could have been 56-26 in the eastern conference. they would have been in 3rd place behind the 66-16 celtics and 59-23 pistons. can you imagine a frontcourt with chris bosh and stoudemire? however, stoudemire probably wouldn't have given the 05-06 suns a 15 win increase and go from 54-28 to 69-13. the record was misleading.

also, the phoenix suns added tim thomas, kurt thomas, raja bell, james jones, and eddie house. they had 3 point shooters in the 05-06 season.

by the way, it is my opinion that the suns overachieved that season. their true playing strength may have been 51-31 instead of 54-28.

i'm trying to show the other side of steve nash's career. i think he received too much credit.

now observe how nash's free throw percentage went down. observe how his steals and blocks were pretty much the same. this shows that his defense didn't change much. his free throw shooting ability didn't change much.

this is the difference between nash's era and a previous time.

if tony parker could handcheck nash all game long for the 5 games in the first round, then nash would have been even less effective.
