No one tries as it is until late in the 4th quarter already, and you want to make it longer? It just means more no effort basketball.

i was thinking more along the lines of winning conference gets home court advantage in the playoffs...
then we'll see some real action... ala.. pete rose crushing a catcher during an all star game for the game winning run

wouldn't that be funny if d-wade on the 9-44 heat made the all-star team with that rule in place???????

ok, who on the Knicks deserves to be an All-Star

If the rosters were expanded to 15, the current system would allow one player from each team to make the All Star Team just like you said -- IF THEY WERE WORTHY. All this requirement does is create an unnecessary rule that will force out more worthy players simply because they play with a good player. Should Amare stay home so Bogut can be there? David Lee causes McGrady to end his string of All Star games?

The NBA is already getting kind of a black eye from allowing unworthy teams in the East to get invited to the play-offs while a team like GSW sits home with far more wins. When a team wins less games, or a player produces less stats, but still gets the prize, it flies against the competitive nature of sport.

The All Star Weekend already has enough other activities (skills contests, slam dunk contests, fresh/soph game) that I doubt any team fails to send a representative. Playing in the All Star game should be an honor reserved to players that deserve it for their play, not because they happen to play on a team with a bunch of duds.

I agree with your points, but actually his string of consecutive all star games snapped this year.

Of course its a horrible idea. ASG in itself is stipid, but at least have the best players.

Having 15 players play is the definiotion of moronic..... do we actually want to see our starts get in the flow.... not with 15.... it already dilutes the quality of the game playing 12 evenly.

Let's make a joke exhibition match longer. At least as a fan, I know there might be some effort amongst great talent in the fourth Q of a close game.

Lets just stop the talk of the whole east west thing. I mean no one was complaining back in the late 90's when the east was the dominate confernce.

This is just a quote from the heat board about the situation. People just need to stop crying about it:

HeatFanSince87 wrote: Isnt it amazing how good the East was back then [96-97]. You had the best team off all time the Bulls, Heat, Knicks, Hornets, Hawks, and Pistons.

Bulls won 69
Heat won 61
Knicks won 57
Hawks won 56
Pistons won 54
Hornets won 54

LOL! Our championship Heat team would have been a 7th seed with 52 wins!

All we hear about is the West now, but there was a time, not that long ago, that the toughest teams were in the East, and there was never talk of "realigning" seedings (Don Nelson) Conferences power changes...its amazing how much complaining I hear today.

LOL! You had the Suns with 40 wins, Wolves with 39 wins, and Clippers with 36 wins in the playoffs. Amazes me how it seems no one ever mentions this. The power has shifted as we know, but it always does...
