Way back on 02/-4/94, Robert Horry was traded to Detroit for Sean Elliott. The trade was later rescinded because Elliott failed his physical. How different would the landscape in the playoff look over at least the next 10 years?

The Rockets would've still won championships and Horry would've found his way onto the Lakers and Spurs anyway. Really not much of a difference. Even if he didn't go to the Lakers, they would've won titles regardless, except for maybe the Lakers in 02. He signed to the Spurs as a free agent so I would expect him to still be there.

Elliot was a very solid player, better than Horry in my opinion. I think the Rockets could have continued to win. That said, Elliot is a very underwhelming #2 option, and that's who David Robinson had to work with for almost his entire career.
Who knows where Horry goes after that though.

So it wouldn't really matter much. We're not talking about Pippen or Duncan here.
How are they not critical? Both of them have won games with their heroics, you can't just assume someone else would have been there to make those shots.

Sasha Vujacic is establishing himself as a key part of the Lakers with his shooting. He's clearly in the right place at the right time. I don't think anyone would defend him as a critical piece, but he's definitely capable of producing a win or two for the Lakers with his shooting.
Kerr and Horry have been, in my view, good players who've just been there and been with the right teams. They've been good, obviously, but they're not critical pieces of the puzzle like Manu or Parker or Pippen or Rodman or Worthy.

robert horry is a guy who will put the dagger in you. BUT, he first has to be placed in that position. in other words, place him in the finals or conference championship games, and he will hit those shots.
when he was with phoenix for example, he wasnt put in that position. and he floundered and threw towels in coaches faces, and was a frustrated player.
only those teams like the LAKERS, rockets, spurs actually have the manpower to get to the playoffs and place him into those type of positions to thrive. in detroit, like phoenix, he would be a quality journeyman.
jerry west in reality though, has the keen eye to see special gifts of certain players. and fortunately, we saved him from a fate worse than death and pulled him from phoenix.
