This about sums it up.

6 ECF appearances
2 NBA Finals appearances
1 title

They got their title...but come on man. How the hell do you get six conference finals appearances and only win one title? Especially in a weak conference!

2 of the 5 times (unless they lose this year), they lost to the team that won the championship, so what does a weak conference have to do with it? The first year, their building year, they lost to a joke, and the Cavs were a joke, but Miami and San Antonio?

The East is full of scrub teams.

like arrogancy said, the only years the Pistons really shouldn't be proud of in this run is the first year when the Nets swept us, and last year against the Cavs. Every other year, we lost to the eventual champs. Miami wasn't a scrub team at all in 06 and were on a mission that obviously no one could stop. And as much as wish we won the San Antonio series, there is nothing wrong with the loss. Those two teams were dead even and we just happened to lose the most important quarter.

QFT

1st year they weren't supposed to win.
2nd year won the title
3rd Lost to the champions in 7
4th Lost to the champions in 6
5th Really the only choke job.

No one's accusing the Pistons of being a dynasty, but damn the revisionist history is strong in this thread. Also damn, people don't even know who their playing and already have us losing this year.

Playoff basketball is different and based on matchups, so you really can't make that judgment.

They have an advantage in MAKING the playoffs due to playing more crappy teams more time, but once the playoffs start, it becomes a game of matchups, and regular season records cease to matter. Orlando was less "scrubby" than Philly this year, but Detroit had more trouble with Philly due to matchups. That's how basketball works, not on paper.

It's that team man, its a great team, I think if they still had Big Ben, that team may even go to the Finals every year. It's one of those strong core of guys that stick together and just know how to play with each other. We have seen this before with the Kings if anyone remembers the Bibby- Christie- Peja- Webber- Divac- Jackson squad.

^^^ In terms of a balanced attack, yes. But to compare the strengths of the two teams is laughable. Sacramento had a high octane princeton offense ran by the best passing team in league history. The Pistons on the other hand a relatively slow and deliberate in their offense but tenacious and one of the best defensive teams in history.

Um, unless you are a Spurs, Heat or Laker fan....you really can't dismiss what they have done. Rockets fan here....I wish we could have won one title in the past decade.

Uhhh, I'm not going to take any guff from Heat fans, either. One title each, but we weren't the worst team in the NBA this year.
