I hope Portland and LA play each other in the first game of the season.

Want to see revitalized Bynum vs revitalized Oden in the worst way.
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

How does he go from... He could be playing the last two weeks of the season... He could be available in the playoffs... There is a chance at the second round he will be there... He should be available for the beginning of next season?

He is simply blown by the Lakers' media how good he is and he has yet to show he is "that good". I am not saying he is overrated but he has so much to prove himself in the next season.

Did you see Bynum play in his last couple months. He was averaging insane numbers.

He was a great shotblocker getting like 3 a game and absolutely changing shots for people driving in and his own man guarding (ask Duncan). On offense he was automatic when Kobe or Fisher got him the ball on the pick and roll. 2nd in dunks only to Dwight Howard.

He had a decent offensive game too. It wasn't just dunks and putbacks. He could do some spin moves, guage the guy guarding him, put up hooks, go by his man for the hard dunk, and I even saw him make a turnaround J a couple times.

Bynum was scary, there's a reason Laker fans wanted him back so badly. Watch next year, Gasol and Odom are gonna get Bynum an insane amount of dunks from interior passes. Especially if Odom works on his shot.

Good to see he's making forward progress.

Positive: at least it's just a 'scope surgery, and not microfracture.

man, i wouldve hoped this would have been a done deal months ago. could you imagine if we throw bynum AND gasol at duncan this series?

we overpower the middle and have the number of fouls available not to worry.

The reason I said that he'll be a nice backup is because I'd hate to see our chemistry ruined. The Lakers are 31-6 when Gasol plays a full game, so it's hard to imagine us improving on that, although it's entirely possible. I'd like to see Bynum succeed as much as the next Lakers fan, but I'd much rather see the team continue performing at a high level. Recall that earlier in the season when the "bench mob" was dominating. A large part of the reason is because Bynum as playing with the 2nd unit. If he plays behind Pau, then I'd still want him to get between 25-30 minutes a game, with some of Pau's time coming at PF so that he still gets 32-35 minutes per contest.

This gives us an incredibly balanced roster that never lets up, and it gives us an inside/out game whether it's the starting unit or reserves. Tell me this backup unit doesn't demolish any other opposing reserve unit in the league:

PG: Farmar
SG: Sasha
C: Bynum
SF: Ariza
PF: Gasol/Odom

With that backup squad, we have everything we need to keep the triangle running smoothly. Sasha is our outside threat which keeps the defense honest, Bynum is our low post threat, Ariza is our wing defender/slasher, while Gasol/Odom play off the rest. Yet another benefit is that we can keep our starters fresh and hope to prevent some of the injuries that we've seen over the past few seasons.

I'd try to divvy up the minutes as follows:

C: Gasol (20), Bynum (28)
PF: Odom (35), Gasol (13)

Essentially, Gasol and Bynum get the exact amount of minutes that they did this past season, and Odom actually gets 3 less minutes, which will only help extend his career.

Unfortunately, that leaves little room for Ronny, but since this team is never healthy, I suspect he'll get his minutes somewhere. Doing it this way means that we release MBenga and let Mihm walk the following season. Additionally, it allows everyone to continue playing the bulk of their minutes at the positions they are comfortable at. Furthermore, if Gasol happens to get injured, then Bynum replaces him and his minutes increase, and we lose almost nothing in terms of chemistry. If Bynum goes down with injury, then Pau simply plays the bulk of his minutes at C instead. Whatever the case, you couldn't ask for better balance.

What's the big deal? It's just a scope. It's the most common procedure in the NBA.

Lakers fans turn everything into the Battle at Gettysburg.
