I know it's biased coming from a Lakers fan but...
The 2-3-2 format puts the lower seeded team at a huge disadvantage. Having three consecutive home games is much less advantageous because it's tough to win three straight agaist anybody.
I think I read that this format was implemented to accomodate for the greater travel between an east/west matchup, but that seems outdated. Teams fly on cushy chartered flights and there are two days between each game.
Why still have a 2-3-2 format?
Should the Finals format be changed?

Yes it is Biased. And the lower seeded team is supposed to have the disadvantage, even though it really isn't. If you split the one of the first two games, you have a chance to win at home.

I've always felt the lower seed has an advantage in the 2-3-2 format vs. 2-2-1-1-1. Steal one on the road then you're at home for the next three. It's tough to win three in a row PERIOD whether you're at home or on the road, so I don't see how having three in row at home is a disadvantage.
In the grand scheme I don't think it matters, really. The better team will win the series.

I actually think it favors the road team. The NBA finals is the only time where the everyone can hold serve and the road can be leading in the series. It puts alot of pressure of the home team.

This is the state of modern day political discourse.

Considering only two teams have ever held serve during their entire three-game stand, it hasn't helped as much as some people think. Obviously, some series didn't make it the distance, like Houston-Orlando in 95. But judging by the numbers, there's no way the 2-3-2 can be seen as an advantage for the lower seed.
