i've posted this a thousand times, but i'll say it once more. nbc didn't want the nba anymore. they knew ratings would sink post-jordan and they made an offer so low they knew stern would never accept. if you want to read more about it, pick up a copy of money players: inside the nba. it is the best book on the nba you will ever read. and the one stern wishes most that was never written.

$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$
thats why.

i mean it got so bad that yesterday, i switched to the radio becuase atleast then, they talk about the game. i spent a good five minute chunk yelling "SHUT UP AND TALK ABOUT ****ING GAME" at my TV with the ABC feed. nobody cares what kobe is going to do when you coach again you washed-up has beens. now shut up and discuss the game.

the only good thing about ABC is the incomprehensible ramblings of bill walton, and we don't even get that this year.

NBC might have the same guys as ABC if it was still doing it.

ABC gave more money, and even if it had been close, I'm sure the extra attention granted by ESPN also added value to the deal.

david, brooklyn: Better announcer? Van Gundy or Jackson. I say Van Gundy but some of my friends think Jackson.

SportsNation David Thorpe: (12:21 PM ET ) None of the Above.

If this series had the TNT half time crew I wouldn't care. Every halftime needs Barkley.

LOL @ not liking Van Gundy because of the bags under his eyes. Sounds like something my lady would point out.

His basketball IQ is amazing, and I genuinely learn something new about the x's and o's of basketball every time I watch a game he broadcasts. I also like how he makes frank statements w/o worrying about hurting the coaches and players feelings.
