If Reggie Miller had come out of retirement, we wouldn't have James Posey on the Celtics. I wonder how the season would have went if it was Reggie coming off the bench. Obviously he's got the big shot acumen like James (even more so), but instead of stripping the ball from Tayshaun Prince he might be getting blocked on a layup.

That isn't all of it. His leadership is off the charts.
Celtic fans hear all year long about Pierce and KG refrencing to 'Pose. He's the veterant leader on our team. Before everygame he's the guy huging the starters and telling them an inspirational quote.
Posey is the guy who is willing to be the bad guy for the good of the team. Posey is the guy who is willing to defend 2,3,4,5 and not only willing but able to. And Posey is the player who has hit almost EVERY single big shot offered to him this playoffs as well as the regular season.
I never thought another player would sacrafice their body and do whatever is neccessary for a win then Pierce could. Doesn't matter what role needed they'd just do it. And Posey matches Pierce.
In terms of leadership, for the Celtics it's KG,Pierce,Ray AND Posey
In terms of clutch shooters.. well it's scary but there's three of them. Pierce,Ray, AND Posey.
Posey has a player option next year and could be a free agent if he wishes. So don't give up hopes you steal him. if he want to be stolen.

I couldn't find a link with him breaking Tyrus' nose, but he did that too.
that wasn't his fault though. After riley got mad, frustrated and saw his team was about to get swept by a young bulls team, i think he told all his players to start to play dirty. I remember mourning tried to take out ben gordon and other bulls as well. Even wade tried to pull a bowen on captain kirk that series. It was so funny that all miami heat team was trying to get the bulls players injured in that series.

Wasn't his fault, because the coach asked them to play dirty?
You gotta be kidding me.
I don't care what order I get, I won't ever try to hurt an opposing player. Deng could have broken his wrist and been side-lined for the rest of the season had he landed worse.
The pushing of Hinrich was just uncalled for in general, and Kirk was lucky to have his feet set at the time.
Posey is a dirty player, and I honestly don't care what Riley asked of him. You just don't do those kind of things.

Not on that level yet.
But he has definitely steadily established himself as one of the most clutch shooters in the league. As well as one of the top and stand-out role-players of his generation.
I've always really liked him since his Memphis days, fun role-player.
A few hard fouls he's given in recent years aren't right, though.
I wouldn't say Posey's an "elite" defender, because his lateral quickiness isn't notable. But, he is definitely good and smart, and is a better team defender than man-defender.
Horry was a quality, well-rounded defender for his career, and was actually still pretty solid the last couple years. And, while from when he wasn't as old, Horry actually as the main cog on Steve Nash in the 2nd half of G5 of the 05 WCF, he and the Spurs basically took Steve Nash out of the game after he had a big 1st half.
Both of these guys did/do more things of note than just make big shots. Some aren't usually that noticable or remembered, but still are key, good plays.

You have very few role players that do all the little things that help their teams at the greatest of times, and at the highest of levels.
I can name maybe 2 or 3 right now; Bruce Bowen, James Posey and Robert Horry who currently play in the league.
These 3 IMO are some of the best role players that might be offensively challened (to some degree), but they do all the little things that help their teams accomplish great things; all 3 players are part of championship teams, and all 3 have had an integral part in their team's title run(s).

Oh and Bulls fans...let it go...nobody cares if he played "dirty" against your precious young core.
I think every fan base would get pissed if that happened to their core. So no. I won't let it go. I have a problem with players who tries to hurt other players. It's not the nature of the game.

When was Ben Wallace on the celtics?

We still won more games than the 72 dolphins.....
