Yup. Danny and Z have been great friends for years. My guess is Z requested the team to publically say he wasnt allowed to play so the pressure is off Z. From what Ive heard the team rejected all sorts of insurance offers from the Lithuanian team.... Why? Could be a number or reasons I suppose, but my guess is its on Z.

It's probably this, he hasn't played yet for his national team and he always brought up various excuses not to when he was called. It's one thing to skip a tournament or two because you are tired, want to improve your game in the offseason, nurse injuries etc. and another thing to consistently reject all calls from the national team year after year. Let's just say he was never planning to play in the first place and this is just a ploy to help him save face.

That's weird, I remeber the Spurs not wanting Manu to play in world cup, and the NBA telling them not to interfer.

Lithuania is one of the semifinal candidates for the Olympics.

But yes, why does LeBron play? Isn't he much more worth for the Cavs?

Of course LeBron is of much more worth to the Cavaliers. But he's also way less likely to be injured playing. Z doesn't even practice during the summers because of his delicate feet.

I'm now more inclined to believe that Z just doesn't want to play. I wasn't aware that he's turned them down that many times in his career. If hes "disallowed" from playing, than his home country fans can't be toooo mad?
