I'd prefer Mike Turico & Hubie Brown than jackson and jvg...sportsccasters now a days are totally biased for one team it makes me wish all the old school announcers were still on broadcast. Dick Enberg, Steve Snapper Jones, Chick Hearn. etc. Alot of them could do a broadcast that was unbiased and gave negs and positives about both teams..

Of the four major sports championships, the BCS and March Madness, the NBA Finals might have the worst group of announcers, and might also have the largest crew of announcers. You have single problems like Tim McCarver or Billy Packer, but collectively, there is not one good thing about the NBA Finals crew.

^ NO. ^

"March Madness" EASILY has the worst group of "announcers" EVER. The majority of those guys know less about quality basketball than a bunch of 7th grade girls.

The best announcing crew would be Al Michaels, JVG, and Steve Kerr. When TNT had Albert, Fratello, and Kerr that would be a close second. JVG is pretty amazing on tv. Which if you saw him coach you probably think he had no personality. Doug Collins is good but he isn't has funny and he pretty predictable with what he going to say.

Also last I checked Mark Jackson had zero rings. Yet he seems to know a lot about what it takes to win a championship. Matter of fact he has made one all-star team his entire career. I'm not sure he ever make the HOF despite being 2nd all-time in assist.

I would have Costas doing the halftime shows. Costas loved the NBA almost as much as baseball and had great perspective on league history.

Aikman Buck is the best crew out there right now.

Well of course he does. According to him, winning a championship is all about "finding a way to get it done". If you don't think that's insightful analysis, then I guess there's just no pleasing you.

richboy, you like Steve Kerr?..can't stand him..

the announcers are meant to appeal to the casual fan..they're supposed to repeat the same **** and make obvious statement to explain the game to the casuals..we're all here TALKING ABOUT BASKETBALL, so I think it's safe to assume that the majority of us are die-hard NBA fans..an analyst, a coach or a player wouldn't be able to tell us a lot of **** that we don't already know..they could throw out a few things, but there isn't much they could tell us..

the casual fan makes Mike Breen say "both teams won their conferences"..why else would we hear about Kobe "accepting his teammates" in EVERY nationally televised game ALL YEAR..I bet Kobe was really getting annoyed with that ****..anyways, my point is made here..

I don't mind the obvious comments, I just want to be entertained, and I want to listen to somebody that loves the game..Harlan and Marv's voices just go very well with the game, and neither guy comes even close to the overhyping of teams and players that we see from Breen or the sexual predator Mike Tirico(the worst)..

I've grown sick of Stewart Scott as well. I think it's just typical over-exposure of one particular person that led me to this result. Marv Jackson used to be the broadcaster for the Nets until he quit abruptly on air, which I'm actually pretty happy about. His announcing isn't consistently horrible and every once and a while points out something worthwhile, but he certainly isn't worthy of announcing NBA finals games. I think Van Gundy is pretty horrendous.

I'm not even a Rodman fan, but listening to Costas insult Rodman and praise Jordan made me want to mute the TV. He did have knowledge about the sport, but when you obsessively praise one player and obsessively insult another it can turn me off from an announcer entirely. I'd rather listen to these three to be honest.

Costas was brilliant.

But about Stuart Scott...you guys should lay off of the eye comments. Apparently that eye was poked out from a football injury. The "lazy eye" is in fact, a glass eye.

From Wikipedia:

Scott had a couple of cornea transplants when he was younger. But, in 2002, Scott had been invited to join in the New York Jets pre-season training camp by head coach Herm Edwards. Scott was filming a story about football minicamps for ESPN. He was struck by a football launched from a Jets football passing machine during receiver drills. He had to undergo corneal surgery that same evening and was out of work for a couple months. He now wears thicker glasses and has the teleprompter moved closer. Scott now wears a glass eye, on his right side, which is noticeably lighter and less mobile than his one "good" eye.

That being said, I dislike him now too. He's a walking cliche. He used to be great on Sportscenter with Rich Eisen. I don't know whats happened to him now.

One thing that I've noticed from ALL of them, is it appears they don't have any clue about the players out there with the exception of Kobe.

Posey has been clutch all this year and throughout MIA playoffs, and all playoffs long... yet now it's game 4 and JVG is like Wow I can't believe it James Posey is clutch and a solid roleplayer. I didn't know this till now after watching him 3 games.

Earlier JVG, Wow I can't believe it Pierce can dribble and penetrate and create offense for others? Holy **** he plays defense too? He couldn't do all that when he was a rookie! I missed scouting him the past 8 years to learn what he has been doing since he played in the ECF!

Eddie House is a knock down shooter? No **** WAY! I thought it was his small height, slow footspeed, journeyman carrer, difficulty dribbling, veterant leadership or something else! But wow the one reason House is in the NBA is something he's great at!

Idk, I only notice the celtics comments but honestly weren't these people suppose to be a head coach and a palyer... they've played against these guys and they literally had no clue what they could do?

Yeah, he used to be better, but I don't really mind him. Theres a lot of announcers that are worse.

I read somewhere else he got hit by a quarterback, not the throwing machine.

Either way, sad story.

I always thought he has a glass eye. I can't remember where I heard that from but I don't think I'm making it up either. So can someone confirm whether he's staring at me unintentionally?

So wait, if you have not won a championship you can't say what it takes to win one? What if you never called a basketball game or....played in the NBA? Maybe we should just shut realgm down, since nobody here can speak on the NBA since we don't play in it.
