God I hate when people moan about this stupid technicality. The NBA is top professional league in the world where players make the most money. World Champions. It's just a name. Just like it's the "World Series" because for a while the USA was the only country that played the sport. It was invented here and will have the top teams in the world. Live with it.

The reason Americans started referring to the winners of American sports championships as 'World Champions' goes back to baseball.

The original World Series wasn't so named because American hubris had become inflated to a ridiculous degree, but rather because the series was sponsored by a newspaper, the New York World.

Of course, over time, hubris did kick in and other sports picked up the habit without the excuse, but it didn't originally start off as an actual claim of global dominance.

it would be a smarter idea then just sending a collection of talented players that don't always mesh properly. the Celtics won it mainly due to the "big three", but players like Posey, Rondo and Perkins had a lot to do with it - and those kind of players are usually missing when they put together a USA all star squad.

The best thing would be if they could get Team USA to play like the boston C's.
That is to establish roles on the team, not just put players in and tell them to do their thing.
