That doesn't make a lot of sense; Rice was a decent rebounder for a guard/forward.

For me, it's Kareem and Duncan, all the way, with a dash of Hakeem and some Mailman. Fundamental post player, great rebounder, outstanding defender, excellent passer and I both shoot the skyhook and go glass every couple of possessions. My jumper is solid out to around 18 feet.

More like Kareem in my build than Duncan, because I'm reasonably skinny, but I use off-ball tricks and a good understanding of leverage to overcome that. My dash of Hakeem is that I'm quick-footed for my position, more like a SF than a C, and I have a really brutal array of ball-fakes and footwork that sets my defender up really badly. My dash of Mailman is that I love the pick-and-roll and play it a lot... and that I'm really physical, despite my size and not above setting a moving screen now and again, and also that I have some face-up game in me... though instead of the Mailman's signature dunk, I tend to go with a George Gervin-styled finger roll or a Dr. J-type layup because I have big hands and palm the ball.

If I had to pick one, I'd go with Kareem but the above explains it best.

I guess a weakness of the description is that it invokes three really high-volume scorers and I tend to score more like Duncan, paced so that I can involve everyone else and focus on defense.

Probably most closely related to Kidd. Im not much of a shooter, but I can get to the basket (and throw down the short, white guy dunks), pass, and play solid D. I also hit the boards and block shots pretty well for a smaller guy (6'0 165). I used to get over 3 bpg when I played. It's funny though because when I was younger I was a lights out shooter and defender but couldn't do anything else. My games changed a lot.

Melo hit 35% on 2 3PA/g this year, averaged over 7 boards (which is great for a 3/2) and 165 at 6'1 is not similar to 6'8 230 in terms of body structure. What you've described sounds more like Richard Jefferson.

How tall are you?

+ 1 How tall are you? And, its not which NBA player you most likely want to be like, its which NBA player are you most like. I can see how it would get confusing.

Oh, similar to the Chris Paul and Sasha Vuajacic type.

peja stojakovic

I have a excellent shooting game...Great 3 pt shot, and 80% Free throw shooter in real life...I actually got the chance to go to Madison Square Garden and shoot 1 layup, 2 free throws, and a 3 pointer within 30 seconds. Made everyone of em on time.
My passing skills are really good, and my ball handling is ok
size: 5'11 155

Weakness: I can be streaky and i lack a driving game often and im not a board crasher

Bear in mind, I'm making a stylistic comparison, not saying I'm as good as those players.

I'm 6'2. I'm athletic enough to dunk and I'm quick for my size, but I am in no way an NBA-caliber player, I wouldn't even be able to play my position at that level of competition.

Stylistically, when I play ball, I'm found most often below the foul line extended and usually within 15 feet of the rim. I like to receive the ball on either low block; from the left side, I like to step into the lane for jump hooks with my strong hand (like any decent post player), but I also like to drop-step and duck-under or spin baseline. Right side, I like the skyhook, the drop-step and associated counter moves and I like to, on both sides, face up and hit short bank shots.

I can and regularly do hit bank shots out to around 18 feet from the wings and at an acute angle from the baseline.

I pass really well from the post to cutters and set shooters and I work well out of the pick-and-roll.

But predominantly, I'm found in the low post. Now, the Kareem comparison breaks down because I don't usually enjoy the 2-3 inches of height advantage he had because most of my competition in the post is around my height, give or take an inch or two, many people my height or taller.

Stylistically speaking, I very clearly play like a center except when I face up from the high post. On occasion, I set up outside and that doesn't really mesh with the comparison but given my way, I'm cutting in and out of the key to get position on the low block, running sidepost curls, cross screens on the baseline and that sort of deal. Defensively, I guard low post players and protect the rim.

Again, stylistic comparison, I'm obviously not actually as good as the NBA players I've named; the OP said:

TEAIM wrote:I'm interested to see who people think their own game is most similar to in the NBA?

By no means am I saying as good as cause that would be stupid. All I wanna know is if you play a similar style of basketball. For example if you're really good three point shooter, but can't do much else then you might say you're like Jason Kapono or another example if you're really soft and play like a homo you might say you play like any of these Lakers- Odom, Gasol, Vujacic or Radmanovic.

So which NBA player are you most like?

^ Still style can differ depending on height......because this allows one to recognize what matchups will be effective.

But yeah, it depends on the competition that you face and how tall they are as well.
I was simply curious with my question though.......

I guess Jason Kidd would be the guy that my game is most based on, although it's pretty loose. I love to pass the ball, and set my teammates up for an easy basket. I'm a streaky shooter, average free throw shooter, but a pretty decent rebounder for my size, if a little passive on the boards. I do love to play in the post against other guards though and use some post moves, so I guess theres a little Cassell/Payton mixed in there. My defense is average.

And I'm 5'10" 180, and haven't played organized basketball since high school, which was two years ago. So this comparison is based primarily off of college intramurals.

Before my back problems I played like Dalembert, now I'm more like Bargnani(season 2).
-Allergic to rebounding.
-Poor help defense.
-Hang around the 3pt line instead of cutting/being useful.

Of course it does.

At NCAA level competition... I wouldn't be there. I don't have good ball-handling skills for a guard or a jumper that has NCAA three-point range, so that's limiting. At American HS-level competition, I'd be in the same boat because of the relative heights. But at my Canadian university, the competition I face and the skills I have, those are the players that most accurately depict my style.

Tony Parker.

Im a PG that likes to score but make no mistake give me an offense to run and ill run it. I can hit the three but my game relies on my ability to beat my man off the dribble and i love to live in the lane. Yeah i put up points in the paint like D12 ha.

But i can play defense.

Im a more aggresive Pau Gasol
Im 6' 5" at 15
i have an excellent midrange game
very good post moves and countermoves
very willing passer
get alot of blocks but not that good on defense
decent at driving in the lane
but unlike pau im an excellent rebounder because my arm length is 6' 11"
very nonathletic but very fundamental

I'd say my games most similar to Paul Pierce but I'm a below average shooter, unlike like PP who's very good. But I drive and attack the basket in a very similar style, I'm not a great leaper or super quick but I'm really strong and always get to where I wanna go and then finish. I'm also a really good defender and love stopping my opponent.

I don't know if anyone's got this problem but no matter how hard I work on my jumpshot it never translates to making jumpers in a game. It's kinda like my mechanics breakdown in a game and I lose confidence. I've changed my mechanics so many times, I've had shooting coaches work with me, I've done everything but nothing works. Anyone got any tips for me to overcome this flaw in my game?

After writing all this it kinda sounds like Im Eric Snow is his Sixers days. Paul Pierce sounds better so I'll stick with that comparison. :D

i'm not totally sure. so someone help me out? :D
-playmaker, decent enough handles, very good passer.
-not the quickest on defense to stay in front of smaller guys but a very good shotblocker.
-streaky 3pt shooter, some days i'm ray allen, some days it's like watching a car crash.
-like to try taking over games, but can shoot/play my team out of the game instead of back into it.
-very good slasher
-like to play in the post.

All my friends say my game resembles that of Kobe Bryant.

My midrange and 3 pointer are both money. I can beat my defender almost every time and am a very crafty offensive player. Also my defense is impeccable and i hardly get scored on while blocking much taller and bigger players. Bear in mind i'm a varsity ball player playing against high school buddies.

Personally i think i play more like Paul Pierce because i'm not the quickest but i have a deceptively quick first step and can finish in traffic.
