Mavs are going to struggle this season. We already knew that. It's not like they are getting worse, it's just everyone is getting better.

I like the addition but not the price. But hey when your paying Dampier 10 million im sure Diop looks like a bargain.

Good move IMO,I would have liked to have him as Tyson's backup, a lot...

The way big men are being paid these days and with few big men on the market this summer, I don't think he is being overpaid. He would have received the MLE from which ever team he signed with. He's a good fit on that team and I still see him getting better.

This still doesnt solve the problems at PG that harris left behind offensively...jkidd will need more finishers expecially from the bench if the mavs are to get back into the playoff mix of contenders, or just another pretender.

DIOP robbed them, clearly the mavs made this move to counter the SHAQ trade, but why do they need DIOP when they have ERICA and MAGLOIRE?

Diop is a solid backup. But giving the full MLE for 5 years for a big man who can't score and isn't a good rebounder is just too much. The Mavs would have been better off signing Kwame or Elson at a cheaper price.

If the Mavs play him with the starting lineup a lot, I feel bad for Dirk. WIth Kidd and Diop on the floor he's going to have 3 guys on him.

they needed him back and i think that's probably what they were gonna have to pay to do it.

now if howard could not disappear in a playoff series the mavs might make some noise.

Thats just way way way too much money for somebody that offensivly challenged . Having to watch Jason Collins for quite some time as a Nets fan i have to say. Jason Collins was ALOT better then Diop is when he resigned with the Nets and that contract was ridiculous as well. In 2 years Diop's going to be practically immoveable.

So you wouldn't pay Ben Wallace that much in his prime? Or a 36 year old Dennis Rodman?

I'm sorry, but I don't think you could compare Diop with either of those players.

Sorry but Desagana Diop has no buissness to be in the same sentence with these two .

I've had to watch Diop since March pretty often and no way is he worth that much. He's a nice post defender but no way he could ever anchor a defensive system . His rebounding is pretty bad for his size and on offensive he's just useless. Yeah Rodman or Ben Wallace aren't great offensive either but Diop is just alot worse . Countless of blown dunks and layups , Airball short range jumpshots , etc .

I like Diop and that contract is nice for him but no way in hell he's worth that much.

I'll miss your bricked lay-up attempts Diop.

Nets fans have been so blessed over the years getting to watch big men brick multiple lay-ups a game is not something every team's fans get to do.

Hopefully the Nets sign Kwame Brown so he can fill that role for them.

Well, this comes as no surprise.

Let's see what Miami does now.

I usually agree with most of your posts, but come on...

Wallace was the anchor of an NBA title team while winning multiple DPOY and Rodman went through a stretch of 5-7 years of being over 15 rpg.

Diop averages a whopping 3 ppg and 5 rpg. Pretty big difference

Diop is a good pick for the Mavs. He'll prove to be very helpful defensively, even if he's way too weak on offense.
Dallas still needs to add some firepower in the paint.
