I think Smith would be an interesting fit with the Clippers. However I don't think they'll have enough cap space to make an offer that Charlotte/Atlanta won't match.

Okafor is a C. Kaman is a C. Unless you play 2 C's together and let one of them get burned by an athletic, mobile PF every night, then that isn't a good idea. Okafor can definitely not play PF.

Charlotte would match any offer for Okafor anyway. Okafor has shown no signs of wanting to leave Charlotte and plus Larry Brown is the coach now, which puts Charlotte in a completely different situation.

Clippers should offer Josh Smith anything and everything. Baron Davis is a fast-break PG, so a duo of Thornton and Smith, with Gordon/Mobley and Kaman as a low-post presence would compliment him very well. Okafor would slow things down too much, and Kaman makes him somewhat redundant.

And I doubt the Hawks would match a max offer for Josh Smith, considering Horford is a better and cheaper prospect at PF, and they'd probably want to give Williams one more year.

Can the Clippers afford to offer Josh Smith a deal near the max?

If so that sucks for the Hawks.

Man would that be a future

Davis
Gordon
Thornton
Smith
Kaman

Then DeAndre Jordan developing off the bench.

I hope they get Okafor instead

DeAndre Jordan is nothing to me. But landing Josh Smith would be HUGE. With that said if Smith is thinking long term ATL's future >>>>> LA's future

I disagree. I think that okafor has been playing centre because there has been no better options in Charlotte. His natural position is PF, and it looks like Charlotte has been trying to get a true centre for a while (see Mohammed trade). A tandem of Okafor and Kaman would be interesting...

I would actually love to see the clippers somehow manage to land a couple more big name free agents. It could be a nice change of culture for the team.

Are the Bobcats that much better of an organization than the Clippers?...both are pretty terrible. If the Clippers offer Okafor enough cash, I see him going for sure.

Josh Smith would be an amazing fit though for the Clipps, no doubt and they would be a fun team to watch if they ran a similar O to what Baron was running in GS.

My question is how much are these guys really worth?? Would you really want your team paying Josh Smith, Okafor, or Deng $12M/per or more? They are all nice players but that's a bunch of money and CAP space. If they don't end up being superstars, you could kill your teams future.

I think the Clippers need to get someone for their powerforward position. They need to overpay Smith or Okafor if they want to be respectable.

You have obviously not seen Emeka play very much and I can understand why, so I don't mean it as a slight. To elaborate on Amcoolio's point though, Okafor has the skillset of a center. He scores easiest in the immediate area around the basket. He is not a very good jump shooter (check out his ft%), so Clippers would have to play Kaman at the elbows and short corner area unless they want Okafor and Kaman occupying each block. I can't imagine Kaman can stick with athletic 4s or guys with range like Dirk and I KNOW Emeka can't, so what do they do on defense?

If they institute a running offense with Smith the Clips could make some noise.

I just find it hard to believe any Mike Dunleavy team would go away from pounding it into the post and implementing a run and gun offense..

Why not get both and Trade Kaman & Tim Thomas to Miami for Marion. Thats best idea imho :).

Okafur/Smith/Marion/Gordon/Baron = contenders!

Well, the Suns have at least gotten to the WCF twice with that kinda lineup, but if you're content being a lottery team than so be it.

I think Davis/Smith/Marion/Okafor(even if it's a pipe dream) would be flipping GOOD
