No, I think he was like 5th or 6th. Villanueva was 2nd.

It went Chris Paul, Charlie Villanueva, Andrew Bogut, Raymond Felton, Channing Frye, Deron Williams.

Malinhion wrote:Yes, he’s not even going to be an impact player next season. He'll be coming off the bench in an extremely crowded backcourt, and we knew that he was a project player in the first place. I think he will show impressive ability to score in transition, but will struggle with a lot of other parts of his game. He will be phenomenal, eventually, but too much is being expected. Pressure? Who knows, that's all on Rose.

The Bulls poster above was trying to predict a 'modest' statline of 14/4/6. Are you kidding me?

Chris Paul put up 16/5/8 to win RoY, but he started 78 games and played 36mpg, and he came out after two seasons.

Deron Williams put up 11/2.4/4.5, and was second in RoY voting that year, after playing three seasons at Illinois. He almost started 50 of his 80 games, playing 28mpg.

These are two of the best point guards in the league today, if not the top two.

Unless Chicago makes a move, Rose won't be starting next year. I think they're expecting the team to make a big turnaround without a trade. The truth is, you have a coach with no experience and you added a rookie that will be second on the depth chart behind another one of your starters (Hinrich). There shouldn't be that great of expectations.

I don't think 13/3.5/5.5 (the middle of the posted expectations) is out of the question IF they make a move, however.

Hinrich was 12/3.5/7 as a rookie, with a worse supporting cast (CHI averaged under 90ppg in 2003-04).
If they make a move Rose should be looking at 33+ mpg. It won't be a Deron-type situation where for some reason he's platooning with DL-level guys like McLeod and Palacio.

I stand corrected on that RoY voting. I just remembered how adamant Utah fans were that Deron was just as good as Paul after one season. Their production after the break was very similiar.

I think Rose would be able to put up some impressive numbers if the glut was cleared. Yes, I think his athleticism will help, but that's why I said he will excel on the break, and struggle in other facets.

I don't see how Chicago is going to make that much room in the backcourt, though. Even if you trade Hinrich, he will still be a better player in 2008-9 than will Rose. So the team would be downgrading at that position in the short term. Hughes is basically unmovable with his albatross of a contract, though they may be able to get a team to jump whose looking at 2010. Duhon already walked and signed with the Knicks. Thabo probably isn't leaving. Gordon needs to be resigned, still, leaving an even greater glut.

Do you realistically think that the Bulls are going to pull this off?

Realistically? Probably not seeing as how Reinsdorf loves Hinrich and hates wasting money. Pax seems adamant about getting good value back, but if clearing the glut and creating ample opportunity for Rose in the back court was truly the #1 priority, they could probably pretty easily do this:

- Buy out Hughes and save a couple million bucks in the process.
- Trade Hinrich for (basically) an expiring and a future 1st or a prospect... something like Donyell Marshall, Damien Wilkins and San Antonio's 2009 1st would work nicely, ICLO.

Then, problem solved. You've got a good young back court rotation of Rose, Gordon and Sefolosha with Wilkins as reserve 2/3 and a solid 8-man rotation:

1. Rose, Gordon
2. Gordon, Sefolosha
3. Deng, Nocioni
4. Thomas, Gooden, Nocioni
5. Noah, Gooden

Much more better? Nonsense. He's at least much more betterer than Rose, if not a lot much betterer even.

He might be the best in the draft.. but too many aspects of his game are based on assumptions that he will get better at it..

Fun facts :
- The Miami Heat surpassed the Knicks in championships
- Only the Lakers, Bulls, Celtics and Spurs have more championships

JordanBulls, what a terrible post. You're always on the Bulls forum, so you should know better. I don't think there's any regular poster who thinks that he'll average more than 12 and 6 as a rookie. In fact, most of us expect headaches and that Beasley or Oden will win Roy. Terrible, terrible, terrible.
