I'm not aware of any studies in the area, but I imagine that winning a championship would go a fair way to recovering the extra 70 mill youd spend (assuming the counter factual that the team would spend the salary cap).
Presumably there would be increased revenue through more games, jersey sales (assuming your team is full of talented, popular players) and merchandise, Also I'm sure it would help increase the value of goodwill on the balance sheet, leading to a bump in the potential sale price.
