File under who cares... they are both non rotation players. PHX prolly did it to save money given that they gave one of the biggest 2nd round contracts ever to their draft pick Dragic.

Good trade for both teams, Rockets get a defensive minded player like they usually like and Suns get a guy that can play alongside Dragic in the future or even take over as a start once Nash is gone.

Yeah, this post is probably best for the Trades and Transactions board. You can move it if you'd like.

I don't get this for Phoenix, but I don't understand many of the Suns' most recent transactions. I like the rook, but Phoenix could have picked him up for a lot less considering Sacramento has a small collection of point guards.

Say What??? DJ Strawberry was set to make something like 770,000 this year. I'm guessing Singletary will make 500-600 G's this year... if PHX did this just to save 400 G's (included in the lux tax penalty) then shame on them... but damn you have to think they saw something in Singletary that they didn't see in Strawberry. What that is exactly we are yet to find out, and I doubt we ever will.

Like you said they are both non rotation players, and probably will never pan out to be anything.

There was a wiretap recently saying DJ did not feel obligated to resign with PHX. They probably traded him so he didn't walk for nothing...even though he's not worth anything.

In the case Strawberry can stick around in Houston - I think this is a nice move for the Rockets. Strawberry needs to develop into some kind of 3PT threat first, though. Aside from getting some consistent time and establishing himself in general.

Definitely a Strawberry guy, but I don't know what his fate is with Houston. I'm doubtful he'll get much of an oppurtunity to really initiate the the aformentioned, if any (cut early-season or before), especially with Adelman and on the team they have.

May just be better off going overseas, getting a chance to play, develop, and coming back a more refined player for the NBA.

Singletary is partially guranteed and Strawberry is not guranteed at all if we cut him before 31st of October if I am not mistaken.

Judging by Morey's comments we want to see if he can play as a big pg , probably will get cut though.

Wasn't some Phoenix fans really big on this guy a year back? Guess he didn't fulfill his expectations. Still, he's a big guy who can play PG, would love to see him making an impact on the Rockets but not sure he'll get a chance.

These are the type of trades the league needs to change the balance of power.

Like I said... cash move...

Monday's trade in which Phoenix sent D.J. Strawberry to Houston for Sean Singletary will save the Suns about $540,000, including projected luxury-tax savings.

Strawberry was due to make $711,517, assuming he made the Phoenix roster, while Singletary will make the rookie minimum of $442,114. Singletary's deal is partially guaranteed but will be fully guaranteed if he is on the Suns' opening-night roster, which the team expects him to be.

I remember in a preseason game last year DJ Strawberry tried to make a name for himself by committing a flagrant foul on Deron Williams in the closing minutes or a blow out. It was obviously a hard foul and even his Suns teammates were obviously a little embarrassed by his actions.

A few weeks later on a radio interview Deron commented on the situation.

David Locke: Have you ever gotten into a fight on the floor?

Deron Williams: No, I've had a few guys try to start something with me in some meaningless games...

David Locke: Has it happened recently? Was there any retaliation?

Deron Williams: Yeah, It just happened down in Phoenix, was there retaliation? I don't know the guys name, I don't think that guy is in the league anymore.

Then Deron Williams started laughing.

Just a little more fuel to the Jazz/Rockets rivalry fire.

Either the Suns seem to be making moves just for the sake of it
OR
they are still trying to tweak the line-up to make the DIASTER that was the Shaq trade work...
