What's this nonsense about Desis being short and unathletic? We've had some of the tallest people in the world, and from my own personal experiences Desi's tend to be second after African Americans in natural athleticism. The downfall of the Desi body; however, is the samosa and aloo paratha and that is why we aren't in the NBA.

This thread reminded me of the NBA Finals. Orlando has one Indian fan who sits behind the basket and wears a bright blue turban. I noticed him in a few games so he must be a season ticket holder. That's the homie right there.

I think it's true. When was the last time you saw a white running back?

He's actually the Toronto Raptors Superfan. He owns part of the Raptors, and comes to every home game. He is betraying us.
ontopic: I think the generation of brown people born 1990-1996 are VERY into basketball (in Canada, anyways). I myself play on a rep team. There are a TON of brown people who play basketball in leagues, at school, and just outside in the playground. Imo it won't be long before lots of brown people get into the NBA. That generation of brown people LOVE basketball.

I'm pretty sure it's mostly a question of the national level of interest in a sport like basketball. There are a billion and a half people in the peninsula, bell curves alone have to dictate that there's some special talent in there.
Also when I lived there, there was only one court I knew of and no one of any talent played there.
On the plus side, it was fun for a little bit schooling creeps who had no idea how to play.

That was back on a dirt track. A modern synthetic track reduces times by up to a quarter of a second.
And Patrick Johnson ran a 9.93 on a modern track. Half Irish, half indigenous Australian. I guess you could say he's not white, but that's like saying a black golfer has never won The Masters because Tiger Woods counts as Asian.

Last year, when rookie Peyton Hillis averaged 5 yards/carry for the Broncos. In college, 2 years ago when Jacob Hester led LSU to the BCS title.

I think he meant one that is any good. The same thing applies to wide outs.

I think height does play a part in it. Sure there are tall Indians, but it's very rare to find one with the combination of height, speed, strength, and agility.
It's not a fair comparison, but I can't help but think of Filipinos in this situation. Most say that the reason there are no Indians is because of the lack of interest and funding, but in the Philippines, basketball is the number one sport and has been for decades now. They have a pro league and they treat their athletes like celebrities over there (much like we do over here). However, even with the amount of interest, we still have not seen a single Filipino in the nba.
I see Indians being similar to Filipinos. You'll definitely have a bunch of talented and skilled ballers, but it's going to be hard to find someone with the combination of height, speed, strength, agility, AND bball skills. Granted, Indians far outnumber Filipinos and are a bit taller in general so they'll definitely have a much better chance, but I still think it'll be tough.
But here's hoping that we do see one soon because I'd love to see more Asians in the nba!

I hope scouts dont scout specific groups of people, kinda like how cops search specific places (racial profiling). But to be honest, i dont think Indians have the mental toughness to compete with ahem black players since they are pretty damm mean on the court.
But i could be wrong, i mean im making judgments just on what i saw in my area. But in all reality a brown baller would be amazing for the NBA (think yao ming)

Samoans are not really Asian. They got their own thing.
First the federal government borrowed money; then gave the money to Bank of America; then I borrowed some of that money from Bank of America and gave it to the federal government; then the federal government gave the money back to Bank of America.
