As a Heats fan, you should have responded with the obligatory

that is so old. it was a good game against Raps making any PO series very interesting giving that last PO series went to game 7

Oh yeah, and Miami won at the last second against this injured and deleted roster.
But cool.
Guess that's a statement win.

What excuses lol. Our records speak for itself.
Have fun being first round fodder.

Can't wait for the "Heat in 5, Heat in 6, Heat in 7, Heat in 8"

I’m on an internship so I haven’t been able to catch too much Heat basketball.
In your opinion what happened to them?

It's the 2015 Blazers effect. Have a scrappy young team that's thrown together on the fly and takes the league by surprise. A year later, other teams have had a chance to build a thorough scouting report on them and all the things that caught other teams off-guard aren't new anymore and the rest of the league catches up quickly.
Those scrappy underdogs are good stories for a year, but they have a really short shelf-life in the minds of NBA fans.

I still admire the 2015 Blazers. Great to watch. Didn't tank when everyone told them to do it.

Same with last years Heat. Unfortunately, both teams share the same DNA of those scrappy underdogs, but they generally have pretty middle-of-the-road potential because of why I listed. The players they built around are solid players, but none are superstars and generally all of them were fairly unknown to scouts around the league since they didn't get a ton of playing time in previous seasons. Once they did and other teams get wind of it.... that kinda caps the teams potential fairly fast and they never take that "next step".
Also unfortunately for teams like the Blazers and Heat, they're such a good story that ownership and management buy into the hype and resign the core to big contracts. Blazers in particular where in a tough spot because nearly every guy they brought in for that surprising year was expiring at the same time. Miami had a kinda similar situation and pushed their chips in on the underdog. It's easy to want to root for that, but the reality of the NBA is that that gamble doesn't really pay off very often.

not a huge fan of the makeup of this team but all the credit to spoelstra for taking a bunch of scrap players and having them play above their potential.

I really don't see it as a problem as long as we make the playoffs. We're not going to win a championship. The Cavs and Warriors are too good at the moment and Boston and the Rockets are waiting in line. By the time we pay off our debts, we'll have rebuilt around our younger players who will have playoff experience already.
Miami is a great place to play. Players know this.
