IIRC, they're $12M over the tax threshold. If they can't win games with this roster, they're going to need to make a move.

portland has maybe up to $20 mil cap space next summer, a good chance to press the reset with your backcourt in their athletic primes

Kevin Love and the Portland Trailblazers just seems like it's meant to happen

Nope they need to go all in...they should have went all in a while ago considering how high their payroll is....

They have a bunch of expiring contracts, two legit prospects in Simons and Little, plus all their 1st round picks. Dame commited to the small market organization, don't blow it up or Dame is gone next

Sadly the Lillard/McCollum backcourt equal less than the sum of their parts.
McCollum $27,556,959, $29,354,152, $30,864,198, $33,333,333, $35,802,469.
Portland seems like the type of team that is happy to play it safe and stay in middle management their whole career and not take a chance on a deal to rise to the top of the company or risk getting fired.
Their is simply to much overlap between Lillard/McCollum and is just a bad fit. Hood next to Lillard in the backcourt is adequate its the SF and PF position that need major upgrades.
Portland have McCollum, expiring contracts and picks to move to make it happen if they so choose.

8 games ago they were in the Conference Finals.

They lost 7 of their top 10 players by offensive rating.

= McCollum traded?

So many threads about teams trading highly overpaid players. How are you pawning off CJ? Who is paying him 27m a year?

Eith Nurkic and Collins out for a long time... how about AG and Bamba for CJ? Then when Nurkic and Collins gets back in the groove you can trade your deadweight PF and C away.

Starting C and PF are both out. I'd only trade CJ if the offer was good. Trading him for the sake of making a deal for a temporary fix at the 4/5 would not be wise.

McCollum was always vastly overpaid imo. He does a few things really well but nothing amazing really, but is getting paid like a superstar

I feel like you can make a topic about anything on RealGM as long as you ask it as a question.

Thats only if they renounce Whiteside/Bazemore and Hood and Hezonja decline their player options.

They can't replace 4 rotation players with 20 million dollars.

Kent Bazemore, Zach Collins, Skal Labissiere and a first round pick for Kevin Love seems like a great trade for both teams and it's pretty surprising that it hasn't happened yet honestly.

[Nurkic]/Whiteside/Gasol
Love/Hezonja/Tolliver
Hood/Little/Hezonja
McCollum/Trent
Lillard/Simons

The Blazers would probably want to play the waiver wire after the move to fill in some of that guard depth but that's honestly a great first 8-9 guys. About as good as it gets as far as a starting unit.
Go Knicks!

McCollum Signed his extension on July 30, 2019 - Cant be traded for 6 months.
NBA trade deadline is February 7, 2020 so the blazers have plenty of time before they could do anything anyway (then a 1 week window to trade him).
