Which 2 teams miss West playoffs: Mavs, Spurs, Wolves, Suns or Blazers?

Post#1 » by RoyceDa59 » Sat Nov 9, 2019 7:25 am

A lot of Western teams improved this off season (Lakers, Clippers, Mavericks, Jazz, Wolves), and the Warriors regressed. Where does that leave the Mavs Spurs Wolves and Blazers?

Current west standings:
1. Lakers (7-1)
2. Nuggets (6-2)
3. Clippers (6-3)
4. Jazz (6-3)
5. Rockets (5-3)
6. Mavericks (5-3)
7. Spurs (5-3)
8. Suns (5-3)
9. Wolves (5-3)
10. Thunder (3-5)
11. Blazers (3-6)
12. Kings (3-6)
13. Grizzlies (2-6)
14. Warriors (2-7)
15. Pelicans (1-7)

The way I see it there’s 5 locks in the West: Lakers, Nuggets, Clippers, Jazz, Rockets.

That leaves 3 spots for: Mavericks, Spurs, Wolves, Blazers and Suns.

Kings, Thunder, Grizzlies, Warriors and Pelicans want high draft picks.

I think Suns will fade, but I also feel like this could be the year Wolves break through.

Mavs, Spurs, Suns, Wolves or Blazers:

Which of these 2 teams do you think will miss the West playoffs?

I rank those in the following order:

Suns
Spurs
Mavs
Blazers
Wolves

Suns are legit, Pop will have the spurs in there once again, and Mavs have a solid team.

Blazers are a bit too thin, and Wolves don't have enough players either.

I think the Mavs and Wolves miss.

Suns, Spurs and Blazers make it.

You should have made it a poll.

Tough decision but I think the Suns stumble and the Wolves take a step back. Mavs look good and Portland will rise again unless the duo guards get injured. If anyone, the Spurs could fall too.

Mavs and Wolves.
Mavs don't have the depth behind Doncic/KP. Though I do expect them to possibly make a mid-season trade, so I won't count them out yet. Wolves have role players but are lacking a second star to pair with KAT. Though Wiggins seemed to have improved slightly over the summer.

Blazers are really struggling right now, but they also have a fair share of injuries. I think they are another candidate that can make a mid-season acquisition and really affect the outcome of the season.

The Mavs won’t make it without a trade. Porzingis and Doncic are great, but the rest of the team is a train wreck, with Courtney freakin Lee starting some games.

I can’t pencil a team that starts Courtney Lee in the playoffs

Mavs and Wolves. Maybe Suns, but their chemistry and roster seems more ready this year to not fade.

They are all close. Injuries will matter. Clippers Nuggets Jazz are only teams with depth which could still make the playoffs despite a key injury.

I have the Mavs most certainly in among these teams. They've got Doncic, KP and quality depth (don't overreact to one bad game).

Minnesota's at the bottom. They just don't have enough around Towns.

The rest are tough. The Suns look really good so far, but this is a huge step up from last year - they could easily slide back. SA just doesn't have the 3-point shooting for a modern team - can they work around that well enough? Portland lost quality depth from last year. Their fans tried to say they would be fine, but their rotation only looked acceptable at full health, leaving big problems in case of any injury.

Is a tough call, I think the weakest team are the Wolves, the other team will depend on injuries, that's why I think maybe the Mavs will be out too. I don't expect KP to be healthy all season.

I still think Kings will make it.
