Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
Lebron is a career 27.7 ppg player. He has yet to get 25 point in 10 finals game attempts. Pretty damning.

Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
He damaged his legacy pretty severely with the antics of last summer. Going into the Finals he was playing very well and you started to get the sense he'd salvage some of his legacy by proving the doubters wrong.
But shrinking in the Finals coupled with the immature coughing-mocking incident sets him right back where he was before the season: the NBA's villain with a reputation for not getting it done on the big stage.

he hurt it pretty bad for the moment. In fact, until he wins a championship or two (and finals mvps), this series will be talked about quite a bit.

It's hard to put a stamp on a career and legacy that's not even half over.
But that said, this NBA Finals will be something that'll always be a big part of whatever legacy he ends up having.

I wasn't aware the new CBA had been signed already. And yeah, when LeBron and Wade are in there 30s and going for their 4th ring I think they can still get it. What would your reaction be if Terry wouldn't have showed up tonight and the Heat would've ended up winning the series? That the Heat are gonna be in trouble in a couple years? I doubt it.

5 championships?
Wade won't be able to carry this heat team at age 35...and it's hardly like Wade has a Ray-Allen finesse game. His decline with age will be quite dramatic, as we've seen with guys like McGrady & Iverson.

Miami's window isn't nearly as big as people are making it out to be.
I agree. Wade isn't the same player he was in 2006, and in 5 years he might not be much at all. I'm willing to bet Pat Riley makes a big trade after next season if Miami doesn't win a title. What is obvious now is that if teams play zone defense against the Heat, the three amigos can be neutralized.

You know why MJ is considered the greatest even when the fact is that guys like Wilt Chaberlain were, arguably, better? Because he puts himself in a position to be the hero that people always root for.
In LeBron's case, he'll forever be rooted against. He'd forever be Known as the villain.

There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
It depends on what happens for the rest of his career, obviously. Its not like he's nearing the end of it.
But if we're talking hypotheticals...
If he doesn't get a ring, its absolutely huge. His name will become infamous and synonymous with "all the talent but none of the hardware". Dan Marino won't be the first person to come to mind when you're talking "ringless greats" anymore.
If he gets a ring or two, people will still talk about it a lot when comparing him to other greats.
If he gets multiple rings, it won't matter as much. That said, it will still come up any and every time there's a "MJ vs. Lebron" or "Lebron vs. top 5 player" conversation.

Just look at the talent level it took to finish off Miami (with HCA) this year. People really think the Heat are going to win with this guy leading them anywhere with an 0-2 previous Finals record and an absolutely mediocre Finals performance record? I don't know where you are drawing that conclusion from. Haha.
The NBA is littered with talent from coast to coast, and all those young teams such as OKC and Chicago are just going to get better and build on from what they have already built this season.

He's almost 27, he's not young... This is who he is, a guy that has choked multiple times when it matters.

It's too early, he's still young so he can bounce back. He just need a good PR guy and a spoonful of humility...

Until he gets a dumptruck full of humility it won't even occur to him that he needs a good PR guy.

Re: How bad did LeBron damage his legacy?
The biggest problem for his legacy is that people and the media genuinely do not seem to like him, meaning that they will take every available opportunity to slight him regardless of the legitimacy.

LMAO @ people still coppin pleas for this clown because they trashed the Cavs organization for 5 years for not 'building' around the guy.
The guy is a flawed player. He just lost to the Finals MVP who never quit on the team who drafted him despite having far more ammo to do so compared to LeBron.
