Least skill:
Football (Save for QB, all it takes is athleticism)
Basketball Bigs (Being 6'10"+ and highly atheletic will get you drafted with minimal experience, see Biyombo)

Most skill:
Hockey
Soccer

Golf requires most

football requires least even though accurately throwing a football, footwork, and catching the ball isn't something easy to do by any stretch of the imagination. It takes more than just strength to be successful. The strongest guys at a professional level are almost never the best football players, let alone start on their team, and rarely are the fastest guys have any use in the NFL unless they have a considerable amount of skill. Skill is what separates the professional football players from the super athletic guys who get on a roster just to play on the practice squad.

gotta go with football.

all other sports u need to learn something in order to play or be successful.

football is mostly about athletic ability.

thats why nfl combines are so important.

its all about strength n speed.

+1 It's so dumb to say boxing isn't a sport. Same goes for swimming and running.

1) I'd love to meet the pro hitter who has never struck out ever.

2) The swing itself is a skill. It's like a golf swing: guys are always tweaking and re-tweaking the swing in order to continue to perform. A huge strong guy with the most wicked hand-eye coordination is still going to s*** the bed if he has a broken-ass swing

3) Hitting is only ONE part of baseball

I agree about the NFL taking the least skill, but it depends on what aspect of football are you talking about.

If the combine was so important then the combine workout warriors like Vernon Gholston would be making the most money in the NFL.

I think our friend JohnWall here is confusing the word sport with the word 'game'.

The definition of a sport

a. Physical activity that is governed by a set of rules or customs and often engaged in competitively

There is no possible way you played college baseball. Maybe you played baseball when you were in college but no way would you make these comments if you played competitively.

No one can hit the ball 10 out of 10 times unless it's batting practice. No one.

Batting is only one aspect, fielding a ball, making a throw are all skills that you don't just have walking onto a field the first time. It was a lot easier for me to catch a football for the first time then to catch a baseball.

You have never played baseball in your life. You don't think hitters in baseball aim for the gaps in the defense? I barely follow baseball and even I know this.

Football. Its a lot more athleticism then skill, thats why you keep seeing teams pick freak athletes with underdeveloped football skills way too high (Darrius Hayward-Bey, Vernon Gholston, etc.)

I would say American football, not that it doesn't require a lot of skill but it relies more on brute athleticism and explosiveness.

It may be subjective and up for debate but it gives an insight on how the different sports are judged.

Degree of Difficulty: Sport Rankings
SPORT END STR PWR SPD AGI FLX NER DUR HAN ANA TOTAL RANK
Boxing 8.63 8.13 8.63 6.38 6.25 4.38 8.88 8.50 7.00 5.63 72.375 1
Ice Hockey 7.25 7.13 7.88 7.75 7.63 4.88 6.00 8.25 7.50 7.50 71.750 2
Football 5.38 8.63 8.13 7.13 6.38 4.38 7.25 8.50 5.50 7.13 68.375 3
Basketball 7.38 6.25 6.50 7.25 8.13 5.63 4.13 7.75 7.50 7.38 67.875 4

This is a good list.

It ranks the 4 major sports, from hardest to easiest, as such:
Hockey
Football
Basketball
Baseball

Which is also how I would rank them. Football is such a complex game, requiring an incredible amount of memorization, foot techniques, angles, proper positioning, tackling...even something like catching the ball, which I'm sure we are all experts at, is extremely difficult at the pro level. Running a crossing pattern, which needs to be timed perfectly, through arms of linebackers, without seeing whats ahead of you, on the move, bringing the ball in is no easy task.

Baseball players have to show the least amount of skill overall timewise in a game. Some players might not have any action for up to 3 whole innings. However, the sport that requires the least amount of skill is football, for the most part. The QB position has to have the most skill but most of the rest of the positions rely on pure athleticism.
