He will get alot of money next year if he opts out, that the Lakers won't be willing to pay.

30 out of 30 GMs would rather have Harden than Mayo right now.

haha?

He guarded Harden the entire 4th quarter and shut him down. Individual defensive stats are misleading and also based on team preformance.

For example, Dirk Nowitzkis defensive win shares make him look like an elite defender when he is in fact mediocre

On average, he takes more possessions to get the same number of points

This is certainly not true, unless you're talking about a sample size of only twenty games.

I am talking about this season since they have both under taken different roles...yes. Harden is flashy and easy to like, but Mayo is the more complete player...and thus far Mayo has been far more efficient. That is a fact

From what I've seen about Mayo, he's a good on-the-ball defender. He can keep his man in front and do a good job of keeping his guy from isoing on him. The problem is he is bad at reading the proper switches and following his man off-the-ball. He gets caught on screens too much.

But he gave up 39 points to Harden on 17 shots.....

To guy896

But but but....
Can you read? He didn't even guard Harden until late in the 3rd and all 4th quarter when Carlisle employed a match up zone, with Mayo on Harden. He was held to 9 points in the half. I'm not an expert, but I did play for Purdue as a walk on for 2 years before I transferred. I know my **** son

Harden plays a style of game that fans love, its exciting. But Mayo is a better floor spacer, more efficient in almost facet of his offensive skill set, is a better man on defender, and plays within the team's system (usually, sometimes he can jack up poor shots like Harden), and is a more complete player overall....right now. I could go on, but I am typing on a phone and don't really feel like getting into a detailed litany of Harden's faults where Mayo succeeds...its obvious to those not looking through fandom lens...at least for 20 games thus far

Harden had 39 pts on 17 FGA himself, not the night to hate on him

When 15 of those pts came on FTs its not all that impressive. If Mayo got gifted 16 FTs he would've went for 50-60pts

 going to go out on a limb and say the max is 56 if he got 16 free free throws

Harden is clearly better at getting to the FT line, is a significantly better passer etc...

etc...? I know he can get in the paint/line and and has supeiror court vision...but thats about it. He is good at breaking down the D...but as far as the aforementioned in my post, Mayo is supeiror in those facets.

If you are deciding between Mayo and Harden in the two man game with Dirk, you go with Mayo every time. If you want a volume shooter that can also make some plays in the paint...go with Harden

If we are talking about who is the more complete player RIGHT NOW, since taking on different roles with different teams, coaches, and systems....then yes. Everyone knows Mayo struggled under Hollins. He is a different player reaching his potential in Dallas, as is Harden to some degree. What either player did on either team is irrelevant at this point.

So if you want to search for excuses that support your argument, then search the past 4 years all you 'd like...doesn't have anything to do with either player's current production/efficiency

Anyway, fans are going to beleive whatever floats their boat regardless of facts staring them in the face
