btt:

I think everybody who watches the league more closely could see that LA got special treatment.
the reasons are two fold:
1st: they have so much star power that every 50-50 call goes their way.
I can life with that. usually star players are good at drawing fouls and some also need protection (e.g. Durant).

2nd however is more glaring: the refs are favoring LA in each and every game down the stretch because they want to milk the money cow with all those star players on that team and the tragedy that happened to the Buss family.

I'm realistic on that one... the NBA is an autarkic league that works to generate the most profit, which is then spread across all the owners. sometimes it's Stern who decides whats best for the league... right now he thinks that the refs need to help LA out.
I can life with that. lets be honest, every NBA fan knows that the officiating is fishy sometimes. the NBA refs are paid $300k each year (!) to do nothing else than learn the rule book and enforce those on the player. yet there are so many obviously blown calls that it makes fans question if those nba refs are either stupid or directed by Stern himself.
the nature of the game, being high octane, creates a lot of opportunity for blown calls, thats true. however this is also the reason why there are 3 refs in the court and not just one like in soccer (ignoring the sideline guys). still they regularly miss travels all over the place... even the most basic stuff like double dribbling. mind boggling.

although I'm a heat fan I can fully ackowledge that game 5 in 2006 was iffy. right in the middle of the Tim Donoughy involvement and the search for the next Jordan (Wade).
it isn't far fetched to call out the ref bias in LAs favor. it's just the best story (Buss, 4 HoFs) and in the interest of the league to push them in.

Sports are mere distractions. Distractions from government issues, class differences, etc. You go to work and on your lunch break you are talking about sports rather than "important" issues. NBA, NFL, MLB, NHL all created for this purpose. The way sports stars are marketed, we idolize guys like Lebron James, Kobe Bryant, we want to be like them when we grow up. We can play the game we love as a job, live the good life, and even give back to the community. No threat to the elite class. There is no changing the world; CP3 and Blake Griffin can make low income families feel warmth temporarily by handing out turkeys on Thanksgiving for NBA Cares but they are in no way changing things. Sports industry, music industry, movie industry - all similar. A constant drowning in entertainment with no valuable truths, put in place to distract us from attaining a higher knowledge.

In the grand scheme of things, the NBA actively rigging the Lakers playoff run is really on the bottom rung of a ladder of corruption. Sure, its in the financial interests of top NBA officials and so word subtly trickles down to the refs to favor the Lakers. But really, by the Lakers getting in the playoffs the elite are making a few more millions than a few more millions when they already possess many many millions. The very idea of "superstar calls," which most fans acknowledge, is also a form of manipulation. This is still unlike the WWE which is more like a sitcom, a show. The "integrity of the game" was lost a long time ago, if it ever existed. If you are just now realizing that because Dwayne Wade became Jordan in the 2006 finals or because the Lakers are making the playoffs this season then I'd say maybe you should stop watching, take some time to accept it, and I'll see you back in a couple years.
