In Russell's neck of the woods he has nothing to gain from this, in fact he loses as well. Russell is actually a hero, sacrificing himself for the greater good. He deserves a medal.[/quote]

Putting aside the definition of greater good, I don't think Russell is sacrificing JUST himself. He's clearly sacrificed team chemistry as well which makes him less of a hero.

Does anyone else feel like D'Angelo doesn't want to, and for that matter, never wanted to be in LA?

Oh man not our great Laker chemistry! We are really coveting this 15-59 record from our great team chemistry.

 point taken, but look ahead more than the last 8 games of the season and it becomes a bit more problematic. What happens to the awfully named "Swag Brothers?" Since the story says everyone is excluding him, we have to presume that includes the other young fella Randle. So... now what? Even on this disaster of a team, it was starting to look like these three were starting to gel...

Is this a "thing" amongst younger kids? Because my little brother got jammed by some "friends" recently who baited him into saying some immature crap that they secretly recorded and posted it on twitter. Seriously.

What a mess.
Russell can't be traded(which team wants a snitch?) and probably FAs will not want to play for LA with him as a teammate.
The kid managed to screw LAs offseason.
That takes talent.
Young is one of the most worthless players in their roster but this wasn't on him.

The bigger slap to the organization is the fact he SOLD the footage to sports media. Well, I guess P's sex life was Russell's business afterall....

can you cite that? ESPN won't print it.

espn wrote:While it's unclear how the video became public, sources say the resulting tension in the Lakers' locker room in recent days was among the factors that contributed to L.A.'s limp showing in Salt Lake City on Monday night, when they absorbed a 48-point pounding from the Utah Jazz. The loss was the Lakers' worst in franchise history

Why the hell would anyone record a conversation like that? That sounds like the kind of stuff gossip magazines do. That's kind of creepy.

great friends!

As I said, only if they know they won't get caught. Majority of married men aren't in situations where 1) they have it thrown at them and 2) it's an environment that won't get back to their missus. Drunk...out of town...nobody around that will snitch...not much effort...most are going to fool around.

Like Chris Rock said, men are only as faithful as their options. Easy to pretend to be morally superior if you can't get laid.

yeah i guess if i thought the totality of men were like my friends, i'd assume everyone worked big law or on doctoral theses, between which they juggled relationships and women- taking seriously or seriously grappling with love and commitment and sex and duties of the heart.

but then i'd get on these forums, and read a chris rock bit, and realize that my friends don't represent everyone, but are just a reflection of myself.

I can picture the FA pitch now. "Come join the Lakers where our teenage phenom will reveal your deepest, darkest secrets to the world!"
"When the mob and the press and the whole world tell you to move, your job is to plant yourself like a tree beside the river of truth, and tell the whole world...

... NO, YOU MOVE."

Talk about awkward game in Miami...wouldn't be surprised if they nationally televise it now...

Is NBA culture like prison culture where snitching is like the worst offense you can do?

I think Russell is the good guy in all this. I just don't view snitching as wrong I guess, or I didn't grow up in that culture. Reporting bad things that people do was a good thing.

I know in the Ghetto, or hip hop culture it's frowned upon.

That or people watch way too many mobster movies.

Simultaneously sad and hilarious watching the once great Lake Show franchise go down like the Titanic.

Lakers fans, get used to it.

Black-balled by the entire team? He's gonna be black-balled by the entire LEAGUE.

No player is ever gonna trust Russel again. What's next? Russel exposing which players in the league use HGH?

Like someone said earlier, Russel is very lucky that he's a privileged little brat because or else he would have got his ass beat and would be in the hospital on a ventilator right about now.

It just makes you look bad.. airing the dirty laundry of someone who should be able to trust you, like a teammate. Makes others see you as a snake

You'd seriously bait a co-worker into some kind of discussion about his sex life to entrap him and expose it to the world?

What if he was just talking crap to impress you or pretend he was a player? You just wrecked his life playing morality cop.
anyone involved in that meddling to justice”. NO COLLUSION

a really dumb mistake by a 19yo, he will learn from this and only be a better person in the long run
i dont see this impacting his career or the lakers future to be honest

this also just highlights a 19yo boy being young and immature and a 30yo man being a peice of S**T
wouldnt at all be surprised if Randle, Clarkson, Nance ect...are under team orders to "isolate" Russell (peer pressure)

not long and.....

Swaggy will probably get waived, go to china get waived come back and star in porn movies or something
Lou Will gets traded
Kobe retires
Hibbert walks into FA
Byron gets fired (please for the love of god)

Not an apples and oranges comparison. To your point if I was lying about having sex with other girls while talking to my co workers I'd actually assume it would get out because I assume they'd either want to get with my girl or because they just have an axe to grind. Neither of which changes the fact I was stupid for saying it.

He broke the locker room code which is actually worse imo. It could be considered the most severe thing an athlete can do and considering the trust needed between teammates understandable.

That said it doesn't necessarily mean people won't eventually get past it
