This is an example of a non serious argument.

Of course it is a serious argument. Players come down on the side of their foot all the time. It happens. There was absolutely nothing dirty about Horford's play and Horford has never been known as a dirty player. If anything, he and Olynyk have been criticized for being too soft. The sprain could have happened in rebounding action or in a dozen other ways.

But if this kind of silly argument makes losing feel better, go right ahead.

Is there a rule against invading the space a jump shooter needs to safely land? Yes. Does that rule exist to protect the health of the shooter? Yes. Did Horford break the rule? Yes.

Does that, by itself, mean Horford is a dirty player? No. But Horford is at fault.

Horford slightly backed into Isaiah who had burned his guy, probably on a screen. Big whoop.

Wizards fans are just targeting HOrford now or wha?

So? He committed a garden variety foul. That happens 50-60 times a game not counting the ones that aren't called.

See... Now I will agree with you on this one. Much like the Gortat play on the rebound, Horford was trying to slow IT down. It is defensible as its part of the play

Im consistent on that. You brought up that KD got hurt by Zaza falling into his knee. Its unfortunate, but Gortat didnt do it on purpose.

Remember the Artest Elbow on Harden a few years back. Its malicious with the sole purpose of hurting a player. What Horford did to Delly was much of the same

You can always count on this board to dump on the Celtics whenever they find anything miniscule to complain or create conspiracy theories about. Good grief. Horford's one of the classiest players in the league and has already apologized profusely on Twitter, but he's wearing green so form a mob!

Damn forgot about my dude TJ Ford. He was a lightweight baller before that and a legit third option. Hartford basically ruined his career.

Hartford's the dirtiest player in the NBA since Dennis Grobman.

So maybe dump the nonsense about how Morris or the Wizards trainers are somehow at fault.

I never said Morris was at fault. I said it was just one of those things. Now if Morris wan't properly taped, then the severity of the sprain was partially the Wizards' fault.

So this comes after Markeiff Morris' injury in game 1 in which he landed on Horford's foot after making a jumpshot over him. Morris didn't return but hopefully he'll be back for game 2. Reason I'm posting this now is because I remember almost exactly 2 years ago when Wiz played the Hawks in the second round, Horford pulled the exact same **** against Beal in game 1 and Beal sprained his ankle.

See here
Image

This happens a lot more than people think, especially this time of the season. Jalen Rose admitted a while back that he purposefully did the exact same thing against Kobe during the 2000 Finals in hoping to injure him (Kobe missed the next game). And Larry Bird even said couple years ago that Bill laimbeer was the master of this and would often try it on McHale and Parish.

After the Beal incident, I made a post about on here 2 years ago how I thought it was a dirty move and that anyone who's played basketball knows when a guy is purposefully trying to take their landing space to have them land awkwardly. No one was really buying it though. But then Horford drops the people's elbow on Dellavedova one round later:

And a Raps fan mentioned in the game thread how Horford is the guy that basically ended TJ Ford's career with this bush league play:

Thoughts? Only bring this up because Horford has never been looked as a dirty player. But I feel like this has happened too many times to keep calling it a coincidence...or am I reading too much into it?

Al Horford is like one of the nicest people you could ever meet. He would never hurt someone on purpose. So when he attempts to block a shot his momentum carries his leg forward. Stop complaining about Washington Bullets losing.

The Celtics are full of dirty players.

Crowder, Smart, Horford and Kelly. Then IT with his flopping and carrying.

Very unlikeable team.

CelticsPride18 wrote:Well if he is doing it with purpose why would he hurt Morris and not Wall or Beal ?????

He not guarding them but he did do it to Beal last time. However, from a strategic standpoint, Morris is the perfect guy to injure for Al because the Wiz can't then play small with Morris at the 5 so Al is going to get a ton of open jumpers if Gortat is in

As a Celtics fan who wanted Al in Boston long before the signing, here's my take on the situation.

Was he intentionally trying to injure Morris or Beal by taking out their landing space? No.
Is it an accident that he is clearly prone to making and therefore needs to become more aware of? Absolutely.

I went through an unfortunate habit on my courts where I twice poked people in the eye. The first time I chalked down as a fluke. The second time it happened in the same area of the court and it forced me to take redefine my approach on defense.

Even if you lack malicious intent, failing to remove a part of your game that puts others at risk is negligence. Here's hoping this is the last time we eve see this from Al.

Horford knew what he was doing and did so on purpose multiple times. It's a punk move and now he is a punk.

Not really mad.

I'm sure plenty agree with me.

It's actually seeing Celtic fans get so hurt when people discuss their team. They're not angels.
